Hi, I'm new here and I just have to give everyone a big compliment—I've never seen such amazing crocheted clothing and accessories before. Hats off to you all........
Now I have to ask: where do you get your yarn from???? I'd love to hear your answers.

Hi Martina,
Welcome to the forum!

I’m a big fan of buying my yarn from my friendly local yarn shop—it’s a tiny little place, but the selection is huge, and I get advice whenever I have questions.

I can’t find everything there, though, and I have to admit that I’ve ordered a thing or two online—though I haven’t noticed much difference in quality among the various sellers (I don’t think it’s allowed here to name specific shops or advertise them).

Why don’t you see if there’s a yarn shop near you where you can get your basic supplies?

Best regards,
Sarah

Hi Sarah,
thanks for the quick reply—then I’ll look for a specialist shop in Frankfurt. I thought it would be easier online...

Best wishes, Martina

To start with, you could also find bargains near you on e..y classifieds—I’ve had luck there quite a few times too.

Hi Martina,
If you know what kind of yarn you want (e.g., if the pattern specifies a certain type), you can easily order it online. That’s actually what I do most of the time. You can just Google to find out where you can get it for the best price or who can deliver it quickly. But if you’d like some advice, a specialty store is definitely the way to go.

Thank you all... I think I’ll do some research online, since your patterns are so well-written and even list the type of yarn used.
Maybe I’ll find a nice specialty store, too.

I use yarn from Traumgarne, which I buy online.

Hello Martina,

first of all, a warm welcome here to our forum, and have fun browsing and chatting ;-)

And as for your question about specialty yarn shops: I happen to know a lovely little yarn shop in Frankfurt with a great selection and a very nice owner - at Reuterstraße 69. I’ve also seen some very special yarns there (such as baby yarn with milk protein) that I haven’t seen anywhere else. But they also have "perfectly ordinary" things like plain cotton or sock yarn.

Best regards
Stefanie

... Of course, it should say ReuterWEG ;-)

Dear Martina, a warm welcome from me too here on the forum!
And thank you for your praise for the designers!

I also buy most of my yarn online. And when I do, I make sure it’s made from natural fibers and that the wool comes from sheep that aren’t mistreated. Unfortunately, that’s often the case.

That’s why I mainly buy yarn from Drops or sometimes from Finkhof. Google will definitely help you find what you’re looking for.

Best wishes from Monika
