Christmas bunnies

There are lots of Christmas bunnies in the shop. What does the bunny actually have to do with Christmas? The bunnies are pretty cute anyway.

Actually, nothing—I didn’t really look that closely. That’s out of the question for me; bunnies are only for Easter, whether they’re trendy or not.

They sure are
cute. I mean, at the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter which animals you crochet or knit as Christmas decorations. As long as you like them yourself and they make you happy, it’s nobody else’s business.
You can’t recreate a stable like the one in Bethlehem at home in your nativity scene anyway. Well, at least not a real one—so you might as well have a Christmas bunny. And it’s really all about the feeling behind it, or the Christmas spirit. Christmas isn’t really about commercialism, but about love for others and stuff like that—even if that’s sometimes not the main focus anymore, or has been somewhat forgotten amid all the gift-giving. But anyway, that’s not really what this is about right now.
Personally, I think bunnies are pretty cute, and if someone likes to put a bunny with a Santa hat on their table and enjoys it, there’s nothing wrong
with that—even though, of course, a bunny isn’t exactly the animal you’d primarily associate with Christmas. I know that, and I’m sure everyone else does too.
But you wouldn’t associate owls with Christmas either, yet I’m pretty sure there are plenty of Christmas decorations featuring owls.
