Looking for experiences with lint shavers

Hi,

I have a few pieces of clothing here that have started to pill over time. Since I’m actually quite attached to some of them, I’m now looking for a gentle way to remove the pills. According to ***Link removed***, lint shavers are supposed to work well for this. Now I’m wondering if I can use these devices on any fabric, or if I need to be careful with certain types of fabric. Does anyone know anything about this?

Best regards

Hi Lwi,
In my experience, a lint shaver can also create holes. It might work for woven garments, but for knits—which have a very uneven surface—it’s not very effective and can actually ruin the garment.
I pluck the lint off by hand, little by little, while on the phone or something like that; for me, that’s been the best method so far.
Best regards, Inna

I used to have a lint shaver and found it only somewhat effective. I just use my husband’s good, regular blade razor :-))

Lay the garment flat on a table and shave it carefully.

Before I stop wearing the garment altogether, I’d rather take the risk of making a hole in it. In the worst case, I’ll just crochet a little flower and sew it on, or I’ll just have to throw it away.

All the best, Diana
