Author Profiles

I'm a little confused: Until now, when I clicked on an author's profile picture or logo, their location—that is, their country—would appear below their username, and if I wanted to get in touch, I could also see their first name and address them personally. Have new privacy regulations gone into effect?

Since we take the issue of data protection (including for authors) very seriously, there have been a few minor, necessary changes in light of the GDPR, which will soon take effect.
Authors have a profile page at their disposal that they can use voluntarily to provide such information.

However, the current measures do not mean that this will always be the case. Larger organizational and technical measures are needed, which cannot be implemented by May 25. Hence the interim measures—we want to ensure security, especially for authors, in this highly charged data protection issue.

Could you please explain this in a bit more detail for the authors?
