Smutjes pot holders / Tunisian crochet

With these nautical pot holders in classic blue and white, your kitchen will become a ship's galley.

The pot holders are crocheted in the basic Tunisian stitch, which is described in a practice section in the pattern, or visit my blog (Tunisian crochet for beginners) to get familiar with this great crochet technique :-)
In addition to the basic Tunisian stitch, chain stitches, slip stitches, single crochet and half double crochet are also used.

As always, the pattern is written in a beginner-friendly way without abbreviations.

The colorful seahorse Hippy lives deep down in the ocean, but if you crochet one yourself, it can also make an appearance in your home. It’s not hard to crochet at all, and paired with a few seashells or fish, it makes a wonderful decoration for summer or even for the bathroom!
The beautiful color gradient emerges naturally from the yarn used. I crocheted Hippy using Moonlight by Bumbo (worked double). This yarn not only comes in gorgeous color gradients but also has glitter thread woven into it. Of course, you can use any other yarn you like, though the seahorse really stands out when made with gradient yarn. Using the yarn specified, Hippy will be about 24 cm long.

The “Mystic Candy” shawl is an absolute eye-catcher. The stitch patterns themselves are kept fairly simple so that the border really
stands out.
With a span of approx. 2.05 m and a depth of 0.90 m (when blocked and worked with a size 3.5 crochet hook), it’s a nice size for a triangular shawl.

Click here to go directly to the pattern:

Materials needed:
  • This project used a 4-strand gradient yarn with a total length of approx. 1,150 m; of course, you can also make it with other yarns or wool
  • Any crochet hook that matches the yarn (here, size 3.5)

The Jacket for Your Little Teddy (or Doll)

Even little teddies and dolls (20–25 cm tall) need a new jacket every now and then. This one belongs to my teddy Browny, and he won’t give it back.

The jacket is quick and easy to crochet, even for beginners with basic skills. All steps are described in detail—without abbreviations. You’ll receive two files—one with photos and a print version without images.

Some of you have discovered the Tunisian crochet technique for yourselves. For those of you, I’ve designed the Origami Bag using the basic Tunisian stitch . It’s very easy to crochet. All you need is a basic knowledge of crocheting and a Tunisian crochet hook. You can crochet the bag in any size you like, since it consists of just a rectangle that’s folded several times and sewn together.
You’ll need different amounts of yarn depending on the bag’s size. I used about 250 g of cotton yarn for this bag.

Crochet Pattern for a Romantic Lantern / Vase

Crocheted using chain stitches, double crochet, and single crochet, this makes a lovely gift for Mother’s Day or as a little something to bring to any garden party.

For the pattern, I chose a pickle jar with a circumference of 30 cm and a height of about 11.5 cm, but the pattern can easily be adapted to other sizes. I used cotton yarn.

I haven’t shown you my new loop scarf yet. It’s easy to crochet, preferably using yarn about the thickness of sock yarn. You can also use other yarns; you may just need to adjust the number of stitches slightly. But the pattern explains how to do that.
