THE traditional classic in miniature:
Baby traditional knit cardigan, size 50/56, including a gauge conversion chart
(Click the image to
purchase/download)
For this
easy-to-knit baby traditional-style cardigan, you’ll need approx. 100 g of, for example, Zimba Top by Schoeller Stahl in
classic traditional gray, plus 50 g of Regia 4-ply in traditional green for the
edging (or leftover yarn), size 3.0 knitting needles, and, if needed,
a size 3–3.5 crochet hook for the decorative foundation chain on the placket.
The
PDF pattern includes 15 images.
As a bonus, it also includes a simplified version of my
Excel spreadsheet for quickly converting your personal gauge
to the desired size (applicable to all knitted/crocheted pieces;
requires a spreadsheet program such as Excel or LibreOffice,
the latter of which is available for free online).
Basic knitting skills are assumed (i.e., these steps are not illustrated).
Required knitting skills: cross cast-on, knit stitches, bind off, increase stitches from the strand between stitches, yarn over (for the
buttonholes), knit 2 stitches together.
By the way: This jacket can also be knitted
as a vest
without sleeves (in which case, crochet around the armholes once in green using single crochet stitches).
