Hi,

so far February hasn’t been great.
I still have a cold, the weather is totally crazy, and
overall, I’m kind of “lääääädisch” (that’s what we say around here — it means something like “feeling down”)

Things can only get better.

Best wishes, Heike

February was a great month. I’m still doing really well—just like I have been all winter—and now I’m just looking forward to spring and everything it brings.

Everything’s going great, and it can keep going like this.

February was just great—hope it keeps going this way.
Everyone at home is healthy—that’s always the most important thing to me. Winter finally decided to come our way, and things at home are going very harmoniously and peacefully right now.

My son has now fully settled into his new school, and since February, my daughter has been allowed to ride with the older kids. She’s no longer taking private lessons on the lunge but is now fully integrated into a group at the riding school.

Thanks to the great “UFO Weeks” and “Leftovers Weeks”—and especially my “world domination” goal of not buying any new yarn—I’m actually making progress on this long-term project for my daughter. The blanket has finally reached its full width, though the length isn’t even close to being finished. But you can already make out the horse on it.

Mel, your firefighter turned out aaaawesome! He looks really great and must have been a lot of work.

I think the firefighter is great, too.

I can’t complain about February either. I’m enjoying my parental leave, and everything is just wonderful.

And I’m also excited about all the campaigns like “wolldiät,” “restebeste,” and so on. I’m always fully on board. :-)

Mel, your firefighter turned out really great.

I’m very happy with February. There’s nothing to complain about.
My yarn stash has already gotten smaller, and I finally learned how to do Tunisian crochet. I’m really enjoying it—I’m sure I’ll be crocheting a few more pieces soon.

Thank you so much for your compliments. I used up quite a bit of leftover yarn—I only had to buy more red.
Now I’m practicing knitting cable patterns diligently; I bought the book “220 Celtic Cable Patterns,” and I hope I’ll soon be confident enough to start my cardigan.

Mel, you’ll enjoy the cable pattern too—it’s actually really simple. I used to knit that a lot, in all kinds of variations. Right now, I’m more into experimenting with knit-and-purl patterns. But I’ll be getting back to cables soon—I already have plenty of ideas.

The closer spring gets, the more ideas start sprouting in my head. I think I’d need another lifetime to make all of this happen. :-)

Monika, this book is really great! Everything is explained in a foolproof way, in both right-side and wrong-side rows. I had no idea that knitting could be so much fun.

Well, the shower pipe froze, the TV’s modem stopped working, the thigh strain is still bothering me, I have a crack in the tip of my right thumb, and my nose is still running… that’s not exactly what I’d call “great”! On the bright side, I finished my UFOs (well, just the ones I’d picked out for this challenge!), and I’ll be able to show you pictures tomorrow of what I made from the scraps. Bottom line: a rather mixed bag for February 2018—March can really only get better!

Mel, I love knitting, and I enjoy it even more than I used to. It’s such a wonderful way to experiment. But I’ve come to love crocheting, too. Some things are just easier to do that way.

That’s true—crocheting is easier when you’re just experimenting, but a lot of things simply look nicer when knitted. Softer and looser, I’d say. Some yarn feels stiffer when crocheted than when knitted. It’s good to know how to do a little of both.

@Mel
I think the firefighter is great, especially the details like the emergency number on the back and the fact that the jacket can be taken off.

For me, February has been a mixed bag—unfortunately, I’m once again being plagued by bouts of pain. On the bright side, my cat (17 years old) is doing a little better again; he’s eating again.

Best regards, Petra

I quietly marked my one-year anniversary at CP this month, so to speak.

I’m going to be optimistic and say, “It can only get better.”

So, here are the leftover scraps:

I think it’s still quite a lot, and such awful colors too, but I’ll keep working through them diligently.

I made 5 snails for a hearing clinic in Hanover, and a few more will follow. They’re also a good way to use up awkward colors.

A few baby booties for a friend and Linus from Peanuts

And a hat for Anton that was supposed to match the college jacket from January (it does match, but unfortunately he looks totally silly in it)

And a hat for me. This one isn’t made from scraps but from “diet yarn.” With these temperatures, I needed something to keep my ears warm.

I’m also still working hard on my yarn diet

For me, February is just too cold, but that’s the only thing I have to complain about :-).
