A Low-Calorie Gingerbread Heart
You can still make a heart-shaped pot holder like this with a personal message in time for Valentine’s Day! It’s easy to crochet, even for beginners, and makes a very personal and useful gift!

You’ll need 1 skein of Schachenmayr Catania in brown (125 m / 50 g),  colorful leftover yarn for the embellishment, and a 2.5 mm crochet hook. The pot holder is crocheted in double layers so you can slip your hand inside. (If you’re really in a hurry, though, you can also crochet it as a simple single layer.)

Get the pattern right here and get started!

Cute little bear with two tiny cherries shaped like little hearts on its belly Click here to go directly to the pattern
CHERRY BLOSSOM loves warm sunshine on her tummy; she loves picking the first little flowers... and of course, she loves sweet cherries. With the help of this pattern, you’ll be able to crochet this cute little bear in no time. The pattern is very detailed, with plenty of pictures spread over 17 pages. To crochet this little bear, you’ll need to know how to do the following: Single crochet (sc), decreases, increases, slip stitch, magic ring, double crochet (dc), half double crochet (hdc), and triple crochet (tr). Yarn : I recommend Mondial Bio Soft (100 g – 140 m) and Mondial Bio Soft Cotton for the appliqués. This yarn is made from 100% organic cotton, is very soft, and has been tested for harmful substances, making it ideal for baby toys. You’ll need: 2 skeins of Mondial Bio Soft 100g/140m in white, and leftover Mondial Bio Soft Cotton 50g/180m in the colors grass green 135, light green 642, red 27, and pink 906. Alternatively, you can also use Austermann Bio Cotton; this yarn is also perfectly suited for babies and children.

Are you still looking for a quick costume for Carnival? This crocheted carnival mask is just right for you! It’s not nearly as hard to crochet as it looks. You’ll need about 15 g of leftover cotton yarn, a 2.5 mm crochet hook, some hat elastic for fastening, and possibly beads or sequins for decorating. But the mask looks great even without any extra embellishments (see the white mask in the picture)! You can stiffen it with liquid laundry starch or fabric stiffener, but that’s not absolutely necessary.
Just get started right away, and the mask is guaranteed to be finished in time! You can find the pattern here!

And the morning after, the cheerful clowns will wake you right back up at breakfast!

The egg cups with egg cozies aren’t just right for Carnival season; they bring good cheer to the breakfast table all year round. You can use leftover yarn here too (e.g., Catania by Schachenmayr), because you only need a little yarn. For the eyes I used googly eyes (but you can also embroider them), and for the hair, fringe or fluffy yarn.

You can easily knit a little bag like this before Valentine’s Day. Maybe even two. Or three. They’re quick to knit and are perfect for using up some leftover yarn. And then you can use the bag to wrap gifts.

You’ll find the pattern here.

If you don’t have enough time to put together a complete costume, this fox mask is a very quick alternative—just determine the right size, print out the corresponding mask, cut it out, attach elastic cord to it—done!

If you happen to have an orange piece of clothing or two—whether it’s a dress, sweater, or even just a pair of wrist warmers—you can combine it with black and/or white to create a stylish fox outfit.

Crochet a little heart for Valentine’s Day at the last minute. With 25 g of cotton yarn, a size 3 crochet hook, and my crochet pattern, you can do it!
Even after Valentine’s Day, this little heart is a lovely decoration - e.g. as a scented sachet on a clothes hanger.
