Dear users, dear authors,
Are you working on something for Christmas, or are you working on a topic that has nothing to do with Christmas?
Let me know.

I’m working on a Christmas-themed project—indirectly, that is: a shawl that’s meant to be a gift.
For this, I’m using a yarn cake with an added sequin thread.
This is something completely new for me, too!
The shawl sparkles sooo beautifully, but on the other hand, it’s really hard to crochet with the sequins. You can’t afford to make any mistakes, because unraveling is incredibly difficult, and you have to be careful not to snag the yarn with your fingernail or any broken skin.
I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a challenge ;-)

Once I’m done with the shawl, I’m going to crochet a (non-Christmas) amigurumi—also a gift :)

--> This year, the Christmas decorations came from the home decor store ;)

I’m still working on the red glitter socks—it’s been taking quite a while now. But there’s not much left to do; I’ll definitely have them finished by Christmas. In the meantime, I’ve started a new shawl—one that has absolutely nothing to do with Christmas. Somehow, it’s going much faster than the socks :-)

For a change, I’m knitting a scarf for my dad for Christmas. Since I don’t have enough yarn for a long scarf that can be wrapped twice around the neck (not even once), I’ll have to come up with a way to fasten it using buttons.

My yarn order should arrive sometime this week. Then I can 1. continue working on the blanket for my daughter and 2. crochet new seat covers for my new car. Not that there’s anything wrong with the current seat covers in my old car. But a new car calls for new ones.
Besides, the new one is just gray—it’s a demo car, so there’s no choosing the color—and that’s why I’m making the covers in pink, red, yellow, and orange. Really cheerful!
Until they’re done, the “old” ones will keep my butt warm.

Hi,

I’m currently crocheting a little dragon as a keychain; it’s a custom order
and is meant to be given as a Christmas gift.

Tonight I’m starting on the hats my daughters ordered;
the yarn arrived today.

Other than that, I’m still crocheting my reindeer sleigh - I think the
reindeer will have to do without a sleigh this year and carry all the presents
on its back - as well as a triangular shawl for my eldest daughter and my poncho.

There’s still a lot on my Christmas list, and Christmas is coming
as a total surprise once again - just like every year.

Best, Heike

I’m currently knitting up all my leftover yarn into shawls. So much has just piled up in my knitting basket, and you can still create wonderful things with it.

I’ve just figured out an interesting hat design and am now knitting it with different yarn weights so that the pattern will be universal. The best part: my yarn stash is getting smaller ;-)

I’m currently knitting a sweater for my husband.
The back and front are already finished. I’m also halfway through the first sleeve. It’s not meant to be a Christmas gift, but it will definitely be finished by then.

I'm actually not allowed to, but I ended up making something for our dance group leader after all.

Since I couldn't manage crocheting around it with my injured arm, I knitted a long scarf and sewed it around the frame.
I hope the gift goes over well tomorrow.

Best wishes, Marlies

My Secret Santa gift is in its final stages—or rather, its final rows: a knitted scarf with buttons.

I’m switching back and forth between two projects right now. First, I’m knitting a scarf with a gradient yarn and a new pattern. And then someone requested a Death Star (Star Wars). I’ve finished crocheting it, and I’ve been embroidering it since last night. Both projects are exciting and fun. So I’ve been switching back and forth between them every few rows.

The scarf will (probably) be for me—it has plenty of time—but the Death Star is a St. Nicholas Day gift, so I need to keep up the pace.

Oh, I’m going to make a Death Star on Friday, too.
Not out of yarn, though—out of dough :)

A “Death Star” made of dough sounds really good. Is it just covered in chocolate, or is there marzipan too? Or is it not a cake at all, but something completely different? Either way, it sounds good enough to eat!

I quickly finished the scarf for my dad yesterday.
Tonight I want to make a Christmas present for our dog. It’s going to be a tug toy. That way I can use up some leftover yarn, too. She especially loves yarn cakes. If I’m not careful, she’ll snatch one away from me and take it completely apart. I do have a few leftovers lying around...

Neither chocolate nor marzipan ;)

I’m making two hemispherical cakes (one chocolate cake, one nut cake), which I’ll then assemble with buttercream. I’ll cover the whole thing with another layer of (gray-colored) buttercream, and then decorate it with gray fondant and various sugar beads :)

Wow, I’m really impressed — starting with the idea and the execution.
When it comes to buttercream, I’m out, though I do have a deal with my daughter. She always eats all the cream, and I get the dry rest with my coffee.

May I be so bold as to ask for a photo once the masterpiece is finished? I’ll show it to my son. If he wants something like that, my sister can really pull out all the stops. She often makes really great cakes.

I’m slowly wrapping up the Christmas theme in my crafts—aside from a door wreath that’s already finished, I’m still working on some small Christmas gift bags, but that’s about it.

I’m also finishing up the very belated fall collection for my paper doll and working on two winter-themed tea light holders.

At the same time, I’m crocheting two music boxes for my grandsons; they’re quite large, so I’m sure I’ll be busy with them for a while yet, but last night I finished a crochet project that I managed to complete entirely without a pattern—and I’m really proud of myself for that! Since it’s only my third crochet project ever, I think the result is already pretty nice. It’s a rattle for my younger grandson.

I’ve finished Anton’s Santa jacket. Now all that’s missing is the hat and the belt. I’m already looking forward to the Christmas cards we’ll make with the photo. :-)

I’m currently working on a Christmas gift for my grandson. He wants a knight costume for his favorite teddy bear. The problem is that I can’t even borrow the teddy bear to try it on. My daughter did send me the measurements, but since I have to design the costume myself, I’d be happy if I could test it on him from time to time. Unfortunately, the teddy bear doesn’t have “standard measurements” — he has a huge head, a big belly, and short, chubby legs and arms. Oh well, we’ll see how it turns out in the end...

Hello everyone,
I’m already done with my Christmas gifts and decorations. I’ve never crocheted so many stars before. I strung them on invisible nylon thread so they can be hung up. My neighbors—five households—(I live in the countryside) receive a Christmas card and something I’ve crocheted myself from me every year. Of course, I got the patterns for the stars from crazypatterns. I decorated two wreaths and a Styrofoam ball with cotton pads and silver beads.
Now for a little glimpse into my personal life. I love flowers and animals. In the summer, the whole courtyard is full of flowers. The garden belongs to my husband. He’s in charge of the vegetables—that’s his hobby.
In the attachment, you can see the stars and our two animal companions. I hope you can view the pictures.
Best regards, Johanna100

Hi, of course I’m working on Christmas gifts—from stars to little bags to penguins and good-luck charms for the New Year, it’s all there, and with Christmas music playing, crafting is twice as much fun.....Wishing you all a wonderful St. Nicholas Day tomorrow :-)
Best wishes, Jana

I'm currently crocheting 3 projects in turns.
From diba I have 2 patterns (the little polar bear with a scarf still needs limbs and a face, and the Christmas moose is in progress; my colleague requested that one). I hope I can finish them before Christmas

Then I also have a little angel in progress: sewing it together, arms and legs (found the pattern online for free - supergurumi.de)

After that, I think I'd like to crochet something for myself to wear again (a sweater or cardigan). I still have so many Bobbels. Saved especially for that

Yesterday I sewed the Advent bags for the women I visit in the nursing homes, but I didn’t have time left for knitting or crocheting since I was out and about too much. Hopefully tomorrow will be better, because the wrist warmers for my daughter-in-law in America need to be finished urgently, three little crocheted angels still need a bit of glitter on their wings and skirts, and I’d also like to crochet a few snowflakes over the next few days. Not to mention the dish sponge roses for my coworkers… I think I’ll have to make the days longer again!

I’m still busy with Christmas gifts, too... I have a very large family and a few good friends—they always get something homemade... This
year, I’ve preserved currywurst sauce in large jam jars and am currently crocheting pretty covers for them... These will be, so to speak, 2-in-1 gifts—after they’ve enjoyed the sauce, they can simply put a tea light in the jar and the tealight holder is ready… and it’s a great way for me to use up my leftover yarn, too!

I’m also switching between 2 projects. I’m knitting a scarf with size 8 needles for my son. He doesn’t actually want one *cackle*, but then I’ll just have a men’s scarf on hand in case someone changes their mind after all.
Last night I started a gradient-cake shawl; I just couldn’t leave the big delivery untouched.

I’m revising my patterns; I only started here this spring, and back then I liked everything just the way it was (photos, etc.)
I’ve gained more experience, so now it’s time to make changes and improvements. Since I can’t stand the Christmas season, I have time for this.
On the side, I’m also making a funny pincushion for my mother-in-law’s birthday, and then I’ll be reworking various figures to take new photos—because somehow everything here sprouts wings once it’s finished.

A quick update on the Death Star:

I tidied up the fridge around it afterward—not that there’s such a thing as a Lyoner-flavored Death Star ;)

I just wanted to snap a photo right away in case everything’s broken by tomorrow morning :D
