Frustration thread.....

Hi and good morning,

I just need to vent a little.

I’m in the middle of crocheting a sweater for myself.
Last night I realized—when I only had 10 rows left—
that the sweater is way too tight.

Now I have to unravel it all and start over with a larger hook.
Four days of crocheting down the drain.

Man, I can’t even tell you how “cheerful” I am today.
I’m already behind on all my projects as it is, and
then this.
Oh man.......

Best wishes anyway
Heike

You poor thing!
That really isn’t nice. If it’s any consolation, it’s happened to me too.
Don’t let anyone put pressure on you, and don’t put pressure on yourself either.
Crafting is supposed to be fun and relaxing.
If you lose that joy in crafting because of the sheer number of projects, that would be such a shame. Best wishes

Oh, oh, that’s frustrating. I started something too and am already unraveling it for the third time. I’d based the stitch count on my size 3 needles and the yarn I was using. At the top of the back piece, it all seemed so narrow to me. So actually, I should have used size 4 needles for that. Now I’m starting over again. It’s tedious sometimes.

But it always turns out okay in the end. And it’s always fun anyway. These moments will pass.

Best regards,

Jana

@Heike,
it might take longer now, but hopefully you’ll get to enjoy the sweater for much longer. You’ve got this.

@Heike: I know exactly what you mean—it just happened to me recently. I wanted to knit a simple beanie, but every time I got it almost finished, I’d have to rip it out again because it was either too tight or too loose—even though I’d done a gauge swatch. Man, that’s really frustrating. But I stuck with it, and on the fifth try, the number of stitches and the needle size finally worked out. My advice: Don’t give up—the frustration will pass, and you’ll be looking forward to a beautiful new piece of handiwork. ;-)

As a pattern designer, you’re used to unraveling. Of course, it’s no fun, and it can really set you back in your schedule.

But even if you crochet or knit purely as a hobby, it’s frustrating when the work of the last few days is gone in a matter of minutes...
So the motto is: Get back up, straighten your crown, and keep going. ;-)
Don’t let it spoil the fun of your hobby. When your sweater is finally finished, you’ll enjoy it all the more. :-)

I think we’ve all had setbacks like that. Don’t let it get you down! If you have to, just work on a smaller project in the meantime until you’ve blown off some steam.

That’s really frustrating.
Now your sweater is guaranteed to turn out great.
