This loop doesn’t look that big, nor does it seem that complicated, but it’s quite the project. It’s knitted from 4-ply sock yarn, and you should plan on using at least 800m of it. What makes it time-consuming is that it’s knitted in the round as a long tube. That means double the work, but it also makes it wonderfully soft and cozy and has the big advantage that there’s no right or wrong side.

You can knit the loop in one color or two, whichever you prefer.

A knitting project that you should plan quite a bit of time for, but also a gift that certainly not everyone will receive, is this scarf. It is knitted double-sided, which means the colors on the front and back are exactly reversed. But it also means that you basically have to knit every stitch twice, once for the front and once for the back. That takes time.

You should already be familiar with single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, chain stitches, and slip stitches. The teddy bear stands about 50 cm tall. (When using the specified hook size and yarn)

Materials needed:

• Crochet with yarn, hook sizes 3–3.5, 160 m/50 g, in the colors white (1 skein of 50 g), teal (2 skeins of 50 g), and mint (3 skeins of 50 g). In this case, I used “Lara von Feria” fluffy yarn.
• Crochet hooks sizes 3.5 and 4.5
• Darning needle, long threading needle, pins
• 4 joint discs, Ø 35 mm; 2 safety eyes, size 12 mm
• Stuffing, pom-pom makers (3 cm and 7 cm)

This comfortable, cozy knitted piece in an oversized style weighs only approx. 275 g with the yarns used here, so it is feather-light. Both stitch patterns used are absolutely simple. The collar design requires a little care, so the difficulty level is intermediate. Length as desired.

The model shown is knitted with double strand and US size 10 / 6.0 mm needles using 175 g KidSilk by Austermann plus 100 g Merino Lace by Austermann. Alternatively, you can choose yarns with a needle size suitable for the yarn that in
approx. match a gauge of 17 sts = approx. 10 cm with 6.0 mm knitting needles,
e.g. approx. 450 g Dolce Mohair (Mondial) - knitted with a single strand.
Additional yarn alternatives - also without mohair - are listed in the
pattern. Stitch markers are highly recommended.

The illustrated PDF pattern with stitch- and row-by-row instructions is based on the gauge mentioned above. Because of the jacket’s relaxed shape and stretchiness, one stitch more or less is not very
critical. If there are larger gauge deviations, please choose a
larger or smaller knitting needle size. The pattern does
not include a knitting course, but does include helpful links.
