Clothing: Layered Looks and Oversize

Dear users, dear authors,
on cool fall days, it’s practical when you can put on and take off layers. For this, sweaters, ponchos, or capes in oversize are also very practical, for example, because you can still wear at least one shirt underneath.
Now make clothing for the layered look.

@Autoren,
2-3 patterns per author are enough.
Don’t forget the link and image as well as the usual info.

A trendy striped piece—ideal for the “layered look”:

Knitting pattern for striped cotton short-sleeved cardigan

(Please click the image to purchase/download)

With a top underneath this comfortable-to-wear cotton short-sleeved cardigan, you’ll be well dressed on sunny warm days in the transitional season; and when it gets cooler, a thin turtleneck can also be worn underneath.

The PDF pattern is illustrated over 23 pages.

These knitting skills are used:
casting on stitches, knit and purl stitches, knitting stitches together, yarn over, emphasized decreases and increases from the strand between stitches (explained with pictures).

We need
in total for sizes S to L approx. 450 g Catania (Schachenmayr) or Limone (Schoeller+Stahl), 100% mercerized cotton, label information: 50 g – 125 m yardage, needle size 2.5 – 3.5, gauge: 26 sts x 36 rows = 10 x 10 cm, here with the following color distribution:

  • Blue 100 g
  • White 100 g
  • Dark green 150 g
  • Light green 100 g
Depending on the size, more or fewer yarn leftovers per skein will remain.

I used here: knitting needle size 3.5, 3 stitch holders and 1 cable to put stitches on hold, stitch marker and row counter (not absolutely necessary), pins for blocking, measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends.

And another practical piece:

Knitting pattern Tunic ALLROUND

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

Worn as size S = oversized; size M/L (stretchy), easy to adapt to other sizes or oversized fits.

Comfortable – light – this knitted top can be worn in every season, even in winter with a thin turtleneck underneath.

Basic knitting skills are enough.

The download includes

  • Illustrated PDF knitting pattern**
  • PDF “Knitting Basics – Basic Knitting Techniques” – illustrated explanations
Material:
Used here: 450 g ribbon cotton effect yarn, 50 g – 90 m for needle size 5.0 to 6.0; gauge according to the yarn label: 16 stitches x 23 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm. The 450 g is enough up to size XL. For larger sizes, add 50 g more per size. Gradient yarns are also suitable. Circular knitting needles 6.0 with 80 cm cable length; two additional circular knitting needles for holding stitches (or stitch holders), measuring tape, stitch markers, pins, yarn needle for weaving in ends, scissors

And over that, a cozy oversized cardigan:

Cardigan/Long Cardigan MARGIT sizes 38 to 46 OneSize - Oversize

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

This comfortable, cozy knitted piece in an oversized style weighs only approx. 275 g with the yarns used here, so it is as light as a feather. Both patterns used are absolutely simple. The collar shaping requires a bit of care. The length is variable.

The model shown is knitted with double strand and needle size 6.0 using 175 g KidSilk by Austermann plus100 g Merino Lace by Austermann. Alternatively, you can choose yarns with a needle size suitable for the yarn that roughly correspond to a gauge of 17 sts = approx. 10 cm with 6.0 knitting needles. Further yarn alternatives—including ones without mohair—are listed in the pattern. Stitch markers are highly recommended.

The illustrated PDF pattern with stitch- and row-by-row instructions is based on the gauge mentioned above. Due to the casual shape and stretchiness of the cardigan, one stitch more or less is not all that decisive. If there are larger deviations in gauge, please choose a larger or smaller knitting needle size. The pattern does not include a knitting course, but it does include relevant link tips.

A wonderfully lightweight poncho—but still very warm thanks to the camel hair.
The technique is basically kept simple—but the small cable border adds the finishing touch!

The snowmen worked in with beadwork technique (replaceable, of course) also look very nice and at the same time serve as weighting, which ensures a clean drape.

This pattern is designed for sizes 38/40.
However, the included cut and the gauge make it possible to make any size!

A detailed description guides you through the entire knitting process.

And here’s the pattern and more details...
