Not just for Oktoberfest season...
For this special sleeveless baby vest without buttons, we need:
150 g gray merino wool + 50 g red merino wool, here Schachenmayr Merino Extrafine 120, 50 g – 120 m yardage, gauge according to the ball band: 22 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm, knitting needles 3.0–4.0; here: knitting needles 4.0, cable needle, crochet hook 3.5 for the bow, stitch holder or similar for holding stitches, yarn needle for weaving in ends, stitch marker is helpful.
The
PDF pattern is illustrated.
The red cable on the back is worked in
intarsia technique (illustrated explanation is included) and requires some time and skill—so I would not recommend it for beginning knitters.
The cable also looks lovely in solid gray, and the whole piece is then knitted up quite quickly.
For beginning knitters, I therefore recommend knitting this vest
completely without the cable and/or in one solid color.
