What was it like for the experienced crafters, pros, and authors back when they were just starting out?

My beginner days were soooo long ago that I don’t even remember them anymore.
I have a very vague memory of the craft classes in elementary school. We were supposed to knit a teddy bear. It consisted of a long stretch of just knit stitches, and for the legs, the center was split. The arms were knitted separately. When it was finished, it looked a bit like Mr. Bean’s teddy bear—button eyes and all.
But instead of staying straight, the edges of my knitting kept getting wider and wider. To this day, I have no idea how I managed to do that.
But ever since then, all my edges have always turned out nice and straight ^^

Michaela, we could have gone to school together, ha ha.

I also remember a teddy bear like that. Back then, I didn’t particularly like crafts. I remember that at some point we knitted socks, though my mom
did most of the knitting.

In the beginning, I did a lot of crocheting because it was faster. Now I enjoy both knitting and crocheting, including socks.
