Monday Topic: Tapestry Crochet

How can I prevent the carried threads from showing through the stitches when tapestry crocheting? Am I crocheting too loosely?

I was kind of hoping you’d get an answer. I don’t know the answer myself—I’ve never even tried tapestry crochet before—so I would’ve appreciated some good tips, too.

Is there a thread somewhere that explains this technique? I’d never heard of or read about it until a few days ago....

But even in those pictures, the other colors seem to show through a bit.
I would have liked it if there were a trick to avoid that.

even though it’s already Wednesday :-)...
I had the same problem as you during my first attempts with the tapestry technique. It actually helps to crochet a bit tighter with this technique, and I also tried to lay the carried yarn neatly behind the stitch I was inserting the hook into, so that as little as possible would show through. That works pretty well. However, I’ve only ever worked with two colors, not four like in the link you shared. I imagine it would be even harder to “hide” the carried yarns with four colors :-).
Maybe one or two of the designers will still have a good tip for this technique....
