OK, dear Josefa.
So here’s my money-saving idea:
Knitted socks used to be commonly used as “savings stockings.” Well, in these times when there’s virtually no interest for savers, how about bringing back the “savings stocking”? For example, you could knit or crochet a colorful sock out of leftover yarn and put your spare change in it every month; then at Christmas, you could use it to fulfill a small wish for yourself or others (or buy yarn—grin). So start knitting now and start saving your spare change in it starting in January.

Here’s another nice idea for Christmas:
Our family has an agreement: this year, we’re only giving each other something very, very small (of course, I’ll be giving something I crocheted myself ;)), and instead, we’ll all donate together to an animal shelter or something similar—everyone gives as much as they want and can :) 

That way, you don’t have to worry about how to pay for all the gifts.
And as a little something for the family, it’s a great way to use up your leftover yarn.
