Dear users, dear authors,
today it's all about every aspect involved in the design of a pattern / model.
- Cut
- Shape
- Colors
- Pattern
etc.
And of course fashion trends, fashion ideas, fashion history, and so on.

Everyone can and may start their own thread, or even several threads, on all of these and any other topics.
Have fun. This is going to be wonderful.

Hi Josefa,

I’m still a little unsure about this.
Are we supposed to create promotional threads,
or purely informational ones?

Kind regards,

Birgit

Okay. I have a question. What colors do you use for babies when you don’t know yet whether it’s a boy or a girl? It also mustn’t be yellow, green, or red. I’m at my wits’ end because somehow it all has to go together. Oh, and no stripes.
A hat in one color, a jacket or sweater in one color, pants in one color, booties—just so it all goes together. I find knitting everything in the same solid color too boring.

I’m looking forward to your suggestions.

Kind regards

Jana

Hi Jana, crochet it in a solid color—most colors are fairly neutral. Then add cute appliqués like a giraffe, bear, monkey, etc.

Or use variegated yarn; with the right pattern, it won’t get boring either.

Hi Jana, given the guidelines, it’s hard to come up with colors. Off the top of my head, the only ones I can think of are white, beige, brown, gray, and black. But I wouldn’t use black for babies.
White and steel gray look nice together—but I see that more for a boy than a girl. Different shades of beige and brown also combine well.
I’d knit or crochet a sweater in a solid color and just make the cuffs a different color, so it wouldn’t be striped. I’d perhaps make the matching jacket or pants in exactly the opposite color scheme.
And to keep the outfits from looking too boring, I’d crochet a colorful appliqué and sew it on—since they’re quick to make, you could also wait until after the baby is born and then make something suitable for a boy or a girl.

Hi Jana,
how about purple and turquoise? These colors are gender-neutral and can be combined beautifully—especially with white and/or light gray. Plus, there are lots of lovely shades of purple and turquoise.

Hi everyone
Thank you so much for the tips. Then I’ll start with purple; I already have a light gray for the cuffs. After that, turquoise. I can’t crochet appliqués, but there are lots of cute ones to buy. My crochet skills are terrible.
Although I could try crocheting the little jacket, but oh dear, I’m already dreading the crocheting - grin -a

Anyway, thank you so much for your opinion - you’ve saved me.

Have a lovely afternoon, everyone else who stops by

Jana

If you take a look at baby fashion right now, you’ll see a lot of cream paired with taupe and pastel shades in the catalogs...

Is there any baby-soft cotton in pastel colors, low in harmful substances and finer than 125m/50g, for a knitted comforter?

Hi Jana, I’m sure you’ll manage crocheting too—there are so many great patterns here, even for beginners!

Thanks, dear Nadeleule! I just figured that wool probably isn’t the best choice for a comfort blanket—they usually get drooled on quite a bit…
