How are you? How’s it going? What are you up to?

Dear users, dear authors,
how are you all doing?
Did you make it through the end of summer and the start of fall just fine?
Who’s had a nice experience and would like to share it?
Has anyone had a rough time and would like some encouragement?
Have you started any new projects?
How did the start of school go?
How are your UFOs, PIAs, and WIPs coming along?
What’s the status of your Christmas gifts, decorations, Advent wreath, and Advent calendar?

Let me know.

I’m in the hospital right now. Nothing serious. It’s just really boring here. Even with my yarn and crochet hook.

Best wishes, Gabi

Dear Gabi—get well soon!

I took a little break from crafts at home.
With my oldest starting secondary school, there were so many changes and so much to do that I just didn’t get around to it.
But now things are slowly settling into a routine.
I’m so proud of him—after all, taking the bus into town and then the train back home is a huge accomplishment for a 10-year-old.
And he’s so happy with his new school—that makes it easier for everyone, especially for me when it comes to letting go—it’s much harder than I thought it would be.....

I had to put off Christmas gifts again, but I’ve started working through my leftover yarn. There’s actually getting to be less of it.
But I’ve made a firm resolution to start on the Christmas gifts in October.
Maybe even a little earlier, if the vest for my dad comes along faster. I’m struggling with the edging for the hood.

I’d also like to wish all moms and dads lots of strength for the first month of school—until everything settles back into a routine and runs as we’d hoped.

For me, it’s been up and down—one minute I have an idea and think everything’s great, and the next, right in the middle of it, everything seems awful again.
So the UFOs are piling up, and nothing seems to be coming together quite right.

Right now I’m working on an Advent calendar (well, “right now” is a stretch—it’s probably been going on for 5 weeks already), but I’ve set myself the goal of finishing it next week.

Otherwise, everything’s fine.

Best, Petra

I actually experienced something not so nice today.
But I don’t want to go into detail about it here. I’ve already pulled myself together again and am now working on the crochet chart for my new vest. Chart 1 is already finished.
Now my stomach is growling (I’ve been working at the computer for 6 hours already), so I’m making myself a delicious fruit salad. :-)

@Gabi: Get well soon

I’m currently writing up a pattern. It’s raining on and off outside, so I really don’t feel like going out.

Gabi, get well soon from me, too! Hopefully the time will fly by for you!

I’m right in the middle of my next project—a knitted dragon’s tail.
And once again, I have a new idea in the back of my mind, though I’m still figuring out exactly how to go about it.

Yesterday, my daughter and I went to the Palmengarten again—here’s a little floral greeting from there:

As I already mentioned in another thread, I became a grandmother for the second time a week and a half ago, and I’m still on cloud nine. Since my new grandson lives quite far away, I’ll have to make do for a while with the photos and short videos that are passed on in one way or another to close relatives and then discussed in great detail, including all the characteristics, quirks, and abilities of the new family member. Since this child was also a home birth and no one in my family can really relate to that, this is also a big topic of conversation. So there’s a lot to talk about, and that takes up a lot of time :-).

As for my craft projects, I’ve realized that I can live quite well with the season-change-related UFOs as long as they are stored neatly and kept nicely separate. Now that I can get small free stackable cardboard boxes, that’s possible, and so my UFO pile keeps getting higher. Let’s see whether the new system proves itself.

Another new experience this year has been living without a TV. Even before, I only switched it on to entertain myself while I was crafting. Now I listen to audiobooks instead, and I think this substitute is wonderful — now I can finally read again (even if only with my ears :-D).
