A small lantern for the St. Martin’s Day parade—designed especially for little boys!

This knight’s castle lantern is made from photo cardstock and tracing paper; it measures only about 16 x 29 cm, making it easy for even little knights to carry. The lantern is easy to make and well-suited even for beginners with little crafting experience.

Baby Traditional Knit Jacket: OANS GLATT - OANS GNÄDLT - Knitting Pattern

(Click the image to purchase/download )

A quick translation from Bavarian:
Oans glatt = 1 knit stitch; oans Gnädlt = 1 purl stitch (named for its resemblance to a dumpling). But don’t worry. The knitting pattern is written in standard German—grin...

The pattern is detailed for size 70 with adjustment options for sizes 50 through 104.

It uses basic knitting techniques plus cabling, knitting stitches together, and increasing from the strand between stitches—everything is explained with illustrations. Difficulty level: medium.

The download includes:

  • PDF knitting pattern with extensive illustrations (29 pages), including a printable summary
  • PDF “Knitting Basics”—illustrated basic knitting techniques
  • PDF: Baby measurements for this traditional jacket model, sizes 50 to 104

Materials
:

150 g (Size 104: 200 g if needed) 6-ply sock yarn, Regia Tweed, 70% virgin wool, 25% polyamide; 50 g yields 125 m for needle sizes 3.0 to 4.0; plus 50 g denim blue; Gauge according to the label: 22 stitches x 30 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm. Used here: Size 3.5 knitting needles;
stitch markers are helpful; cable needle, stitch holder, or another knitting needle for holding the neck stitches; wool needle for sewing, scissors.

For us women, love doesn’t go through the stomach...
... we really like it when our men are dressed so smartly :-)

The simple yet sophisticated cable pattern really brings some momentum to the design.
A simple stockinette stitch pattern frames the cable look and makes it stand out even more.

This pattern is designed for sizes 48/50 and 54/56.
However, the included pattern layout and gauge make it possible to work any size!

A detailed description and a chart guide you step by step through the pattern.

And here’s the pattern with more details...

A beautiful sleeveless hooded vest for transitional weather—traditional costume style and baby, I like this combo :-)

The little pockets add a bit of extra flair to the jacket.
The hood provides just the right style contrast!

And if you’re not that into the “traditional” look, just change the buttons.

This pattern is designed for size 92-98.
However, the included pattern template and gauge make it possible to make any size!

And here’s where you can find the pattern and more details...

What little boy doesn’t love playing with a train set? Even the very youngest kids can enjoy this one, because it’s soft, has no hard edges, and can even be washed. So it can even come to bed at night. The train set consists of 2 patterns: one for the locomotive and one for the cars . It’s crocheted from cotton, and the locomotive and cars are attached to each other with Velcro. The individual pieces are all very easy to crochet. Only sewing them together requires a bit of patience.

With a little airplane like this on his backpack, the little pilot will be even more excited to go to kindergarten—especially if it was crocheted by Mom, Grandma, or his favorite aunt! And maybe she’ll enjoy making it so much that she’ll make several and turn them into a beautiful, colorful mobile.
The pattern is very simple, you can download it here!
