Stars for Reviews

I have a question: Is it possible to give half stars, and how does that work?
Often, a pattern is missing just a small detail, and it would be nice if you didn’t have to deduct a whole star right away.
Most of the time, though, all five stars are well deserved—and often you could even give six. It’s hard for non-experts to appreciate just how much work goes into a pattern with lots of photos. That’s why I’d like to take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the authors who enrich our hobby with their ideas!

as far as I know, half stars aren’t possible, but I know what you mean. I personally still consider a 4-star review to be good. It’s just important to me that it says why one star was deducted, because that’s the only way I know what the reader was missing and where I can improve.

Unfortunately, you often get 4 stars and the comment says “The pattern was great.” Then I always think, if it was so great, why only 4? 

Thank you so much for your wonderful compliment. But the real stars are you crochet, knitting, and crafting sweethearts. Without you and without the joy you have in making the projects, I wouldn’t enjoy putting so much love into a pattern.

So, a huge compliment right back at you—people like you also enrich my life with so much joy when I get to see the finished pieces and feel the happiness that a pattern like that has brought.
