One project you can easily finish in a weekend is Wasti, the pencil dachshund. You can make this pencil case in classic brown or go wild with bright colors—depending on what yarn you have at home or what you like best.
You’ll need about 50 g of cotton yarn (125 m/50 g, e.g., Catania) and some leftover fluffy or fringed yarn for the ears and tail. You’ll also need a 12 cm zipper, some craft batting, and googly eyes. Wasti is crocheted using single crochet stitches.
A nice little gift just in time for the start of school! Don’t have a school-age child? Then crochet Wasti for yourself and your crochet hooks!

How about using the weekend to try this out:

3 Techniques - Knitted Möbius Scarf-Collar-Headband

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

Here, the basic principle and three cast-on techniques for knitting Möbius scarves/loops are presented. Try them out and choose your favorite method :-)

The PDF pattern is richly illustrated and includes 2 patterns (see image gallery).

Model 1 – Colorful - is a Möbius loop/scarf with a circumference of approx. 90 cm and a height of approx. 20 cm, which can be worn wonderfully in various ways as a shoulder warmer and neck warmer (see image). For this we only need 1 ball of Woolly Hugs Bandy, here color no. 7, 100 g – 210 m, 100% cotton, gauge according to the ball band: 14 sts x 20 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm; circular knitting needle size 6.0 with a cable length of 1 m; stitch marker; measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends. If needed, a leftover bit of a slightly thinner, color-coordinated yarn (e.g. Record 210 – potholder yarn, here in green) and crochet hook 4.5.

Model II – Möbius Collar in Milky White fits wonderfully around the neck like a turtleneck, but can also be worn as a headband. This model makes a wonderful gift and can be knitted in just a few hours. For this we only need 1 ball of merino yarn, 50 g – 85 m, e.g. Merino 85 by Austermann or Schachenmayr, 100% merino, according to the ball band for needle size 6 – 7 and a gauge of 16 sts x 22 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm. Used here: circular knitting needle 6.0, cable length 80 cm to 100 cm; stitch marker; measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends.

Both models are worked in a simple Reversi rib pattern.

These knitting skills are required:
casting on stitches, knit and purl stitches, knitting in the round, knit stitches together, purl stitches together, yarn over, bind off. A basic knitting course is not included, but link tips are.

Have lots of Möbius fun!

For the craft addicts who won’t let even tropical temperatures keep them away from their needles, I recommend small cotton projects for the weekend. Find yourselves a shady spot, put your feet in a bucket of ice water, and don’t overdo it!

How about potholders?

In cotton, they knit up quickly and don’t feel heavy in your hands. That keeps the sweating within limits. The pattern is simple (even thinking is exhausting in this scorching heat), and there’s also a small knitting chart.

This small knitted cotton bookmark is also perfect for hot weather. You can find the pattern here.

A quick and very pretty project for in between.

A shady spot, a cool drink, lovely cotton, and you’re ready to get started with this

beautiful casual and trendy shoulder bag in natural tones

This casual bag is the ideal companion for summer! Elegant thanks to its
natural tones, classic and casual in shape, it goes with almost any
leisure outfit and is a real eye-catcher.

With this special stitch, it is possible to crochet in rounds without a jog,
creating the ideal base for embroidered motifs.

In the photos you can see the embroidered front side and the non-embroidered
back side. Of course, you can embroider both sides or leave the
bag “plain” - just as you like.

Here’s the pattern

Material: Schachenmayr Boston Sun (LL 100 m/100 g) in Natural (color 02) and Linen (color 05), 300 g each, 7.0 mm crochet hook

Required prior knowledge: chain stitch, slip stitch, single crochet

Airy and elegant
triangular shawl to snuggle up in and feel good.

Cuddly-soft, wonderfully loose and soft, versatile, and super chic.

The crocheted shawl can be made with different yarns. Here
a Woolly Hugs BOBBEL-COTTON (50% cotton, 50% polyacrylic, yardage =
800 m/200 g) in color no. 01 was used. It was crocheted with a
3.0 mm crochet hook.

The shawl has a length of approx. 190 cm / height approx. 90 cm. Since the pattern
is very simple and repeats every 2 rows, the shawl can be made in
any desired size.

Suitable for beginners.

Required prior knowledge: chain stitch, single crochet, and treble crochet
Detailed description as a PDF file with text, crochet chart and step-by-step photos.

Simply knit completely relaxed without any purl stitches...
and end up with a wonderful baby and children’s shawl in just one weekend!

And I can tell you: it’s sooo practical! For example, at 8 in the morning in the sandbox with a fresh breeze... :-)

Even in the current temperatures, the cotton is great to knit with! Maybe you still have a skein at home with the same or very similar yardage? One skein is enough for one shawl!

Here’s the pattern

Have a lovely weekend!

Maybe you'd already like to knit something nice for the coming fall. The folded scarf / cowl can be completed in a weekend and isn't hard at all.

You can also make great use of leftover yarn for it.
A rectangle is knitted, then a seam is sewn in one place, folded over, and the
cowl is finished. And it can be worn on either side.
Everything is explained in detail in the pattern; you only need knit and purl stitches.

Have fun making it, says
Caro from Fadenstrang
