Hi everyone,
I’m looking for a type of yarn that’s waterproof—meaning that if you knit a swimsuit or bikini out of it, you should be able to go in the water without any worries.
Do you know of anything like that?
Well, I don’t think there’s anything like that. In all the years I’ve been doing needlework, bikinis and similar items have always been just for sunbathing.
Yes, my main concern is that the garment stays where it’s supposed to and doesn’t slip down a few centimeters.
I just read that you might be able to use something with a very high spandex content—what’s available?
Maybe it would also make sense to thread elastic cord through all the outer edges. Why not try making a simple pair of panties with synthetic yarn and put it to the test in the shower or bathtub?
Regards, Caro

Cotton—oh dear…
Wool—oh dear…
You could try stretch sock yarn (with a cotton blend). I’d definitely secure it with elastic ;-)

I recently read somewhere about a new type of wool… it was called cork wool… it’s supposed to be waterproof and water-repellent… I just can’t remember exactly where…
Best regards, Andreas
