Knitted on vacation—worn while still on vacation:

Knitting pattern for a summer top with a waterfall collar

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

This summer top with its unusual collar knits up quickly.

The download also includes an Excel spreadsheet for converting your individual gauge. For this, you will need Excel or LibreOffice; the latter is available for free download online.

The PDF pattern is illustrated, but it is not a basic knitting course (link for basic knitting techniques included). Difficulty level: intermediate / easy for experienced knitters.

These knitting skills are required:
casting on stitches, purl and knit stitches, yarn over, knit stitches together, slip-slip-knit stitches together (explained), increases from the horizontal strand, bind off stitches.

We need for sizes S/M/L:
300 g cotton (blend) tape yarn, Keiki by Austermann used here, 63% cotton, 37% polyamide, for needle size 5–6, gauge according to the ball band 16 stitches x 23 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm, 50 g–90 m, pins for blocking, measuring tape, yarn needle for weaving in ends,  scissors, row counter is helpful. Used here: knitting needle size 5.0.

Knit socks in a totally relaxed way on vacation:

Sock Knitting Course for 4-ply Yarn - all sizes for baby, children’s, women’s, and men’s socks

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

Knitting socks (possibly with little leftover bits of sock yarn) is wonderful to do - no matter where you are,

  • whether traveling on vacation or staycationing at home on the balcony
  • whether winter or summer
  • during a (work) break
  • in a boat on the lake/sea
  • at the beach
  • while traveling by train/plane
  • or, or...
...and little feet and big feet alike will be delighted with the results...

This is an illustrated sock knitting course based on baby socks size 15, knitted from 4-ply sock yarn with charts for all sizes

Included in the download :

  • detailed illustrated main PDF pattern
  • hand-drawn sketches
  • baby sock size chart for sizes 15 - 20
  • sock size chart for sizes 22 - 47
Integrated into the main pattern is a brief baby mitten pattern, since parts of the baby sock pattern can be used for it.

Don’t be alarmed! It’s harder to describe the process than to knit the socks.

Required materials:
4-ply sock yarn (wonderfully soft options include, for example, Ferner “Lungauer
Sock Yarn” merino sock yarns or Austermann “Step” with aloe vera
and jojoba or “Comfort” with cashmere)

  • approx. 15 g for the baby socks,
  • approx. 10 g for the baby mittens,
  • for adult socks up to size 44: 100 g,
  • if larger than size 44, then 150 g is required.
Set of double-pointed needles 2.5, measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends.

The baby socks can also be embroidered, for example, and used in various ways - not just as baby socks - e.g. as “packaging” for gifts of money or sweets, as an Advent calendar, as a key ring - there are no limits to your imagination.

..or maybe you'd prefer a shirt..

Summer Shirt, Quick to Knit

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

This easy-to-knit summer model, size 38/40, is made from 250 g cotton-blend yarn for needle size 3.5–4.0, 50 g - 125 m.

The PDF pattern is illustrated.

The finished shirt has a stretchy back width of approx. 44 cm and is approx. 65 cm long, but it also looks pretty when shorter. Thanks to the simple pattern (made of yarn overs, knit and purl stitches) and cut, this piece can be easily adjusted to any size.

What else we need:
Measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends, stitch holder, possibly a set of double-pointed needles size 3.5–4.0; a row counter and stitch marker are helpful, but not absolutely required

..also ideal after sunset on summer evenings, barbecue evenings ..

Knitted Shirt/Sweater 'ALGARVE'

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

Two in one pattern:sleeveless long shirt, ideal for leggings, and with sleeves, a cotton sweater knitted in a simple lace pattern . Thanks to the pattern, it results in ONE SIZE for women’s sizes 38 - 44. Smaller sizes can wear it as “oversized.” Weight gains and losses are therefore no problem.

Material:
300 g (without sleeves) / 550 g (sweater) Austermann Algarve (100% cotton; 50 g – 142 m) for needle size 2.5 – 3.5; here: knitting needles 3.5, measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle, row counter helpful but not absolutely necessary. Gauge according to yarn label: 27 sts x 36 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

The PDF pattern contains the images from the image gallery (see above); additional images are not included due to the simple cut.

Basic knitting skills are sufficient, including yarn over, knit 2 stitches together, slip-slip-knit 2 stitches (is explained).

The scarf can also be sewn together and worn as a cowl (wrapped twice around the neck), basically in all seasons . The matching hairband is also a pretty (gift) set.

Please choose alternative yarns (e.g. Merino Extrafine 120 by Schachenmayr) according to the information above.

Yarn requirements / finished measurements:

  • 150 g for the scarf/cowl: approx. 14 cm x 140 cm – length variable
  • 50 g for the headband - size variable
The 8-page PDF pattern is illustrated, but requires the following basic crochet skills:
chain stitches, double crochet, single crochet, crocheting in rows. A link with explanations of the basic skills is included in the PDF.

Difficulty level: easy – also suitable for experienced beginners.

Here is a very natural-looking mesh bag version:

Crochet pattern for a simple eco-friendly mesh bag

(Please click the image to purchase/download)

This mesh bag is crocheted from approx. 140 m of thin packing twine (100% hemp; 200 g – 160 m running length), in rounds from bottom to top with a size 6.0 crochet hook. If you like, you can crochet a little splash-of-color heart or similar; for this, use a small leftover bit of yarn for the little heart with a crochet hook size that matches the yarn.

  • all desired sizes possible (yarn usage varies depending on size)
  • all desired yarns possible (depending on the yarn weight and crochet hook size used, only the size will change)
  • basic crochet skills are enough
Finished dimensions here:
unstretched/laid flat: approx. 25 cm high x 32 cm wide, i.e. circumference approx. 64 cm. The bag is very stretchy in the mesh area – it holds quite a lot!

Included in the download :

  • 8-page PDF crochet pattern mesh bag (in text form, step-by-step photos added after the written pattern), including illustrated instructions for a crocheted little heart
  • PDF Crochet Basics – illustrated basic crochet techniques

Well, this can happen too: vacation in colder regions—then you’ll need a hat:

Crochet Hat for Everyone - very easy

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

A wonderfully easy-to-crochet hat for different styles, so ONE hat model wearable in all the pictured variations, for both men and women. Also easy to make for children or as a simple hat for babies (though thinner yarn is recommended).

And the best part:

  • no gauge (it doesn’t come down to the exact cm),
  • no increases or decreases,
  • for any yarn you like
  • possible in all sizes.

The PDF pattern includes pictures.

These crochet skills are needed: chain stitches, single crochet.
Everything else and slip stitches are explained. Video link tips for learning to crochet for beginners are included in the PDF.

By the way: A crochet pattern for an infinity scarf matching this hat is also available here in my shop:
https://www.crazypatterns.net/de/items/20003/haekel-moebius-loop-schal-fuer-alle-einfach

Materials
: for the pictured model with a head circumference of 55 cm to 60 cm: approx. 250 g merino yarn, 50 g – 45 m, crochet hook 6.0; tape measure, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends.
The ribbed pattern requires approx. 50 g more yarn than is normally usual for hats. The crochet hook size should match the yarn used.

And to make crocheting/knitting easier, here is one of my calculation aids:

Gauge Conversion Table - Crochet and Knitting - Calculation Aid

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

This Excel spreadsheet is a tool for converting your personal gauge into the required number of stitches for your knitting/crochet project.

Technical note:
This requires the Excel spreadsheet program or another spreadsheet program that can be downloaded for free from the internet, such as LibreOffice. Open the file with a double-click and click "Enable Editing."

And here's how it works:
You enter the result of your gauge swatch as well as the information for the specific pattern, and the required number of stitches appears automatically.

Have fun with all your projects.

To prevent that, crochet these practical fruit glass covers, which you can also use as coasters.
They are super easy to make, even for crochet beginners. All you need for materials is a few leftover yarn scraps in matching colors.

Here’s another one who can hardly wait to get to the beach: Bully, the little elephant, doesn’t need to pack much—all he needs is his swim ring, his sailor’s cap, and, of course, his little sailboat!
Bully is a cuddly stuffed animal, but you can also incorporate him into a nautical-themed decoration.

It’s best to crochet Bully using plush yarn—that way, he’ll be extra cozy and soft! The elephant is about 20–22 cm long and is very easy to crochet. The pattern is 21 pages long and includes many pictures, as well as a shorter print version without pictures.

Download the pattern here, and Bully will soon be right at home with you!

"And I fly, fly, fly like an airplane...."

For everyone who’s been bitten by wanderlust but can’t fly away... crochet a little airplane as a consolation! It’s super easy and quick, even for beginners! You only need a few tiny bits of leftover yarn and some stuffing—that’s all! Maybe you’ll crochet several in all different colors? Then you can even turn them into a mobile. But the airplane also makes a pretty bag charm or keychain... or a gift tag if you want to surprise someone with a flight? Here’s the pattern!
