This cute hat is really warm. It comes with a pair of tiny, adorable mittens. Both are intended for 0–3 months.

      Warm, cozy baby hat with mittens

Both are quick to knit; this pattern uses size 4.5–5.0 needles. What makes the pattern special is that the hat is knitted with just two needles, so it is also easy for beginners to make.

Women and men can never have enough hats!
The dreary season comes faster than you think, so why not fight back with colors and patterns?

The hat with the fold-up brim is actually kept simple,
the Norwegian pattern spices the whole thing up.

It is a matter of taste whether to work using the Fair Isle technique or duplicate stitch.
I always recommend—when knitting in the round—using the duplicate stitch method.
The duplicate stitch is explained in detail and illustrated in the pattern.

And this way to the pattern and more details...

A completely different kind of hat is waiting for you here!
An unusual "brim" gives this cabled hat the perfect finishing touch!
And... this "brim" can be knitted in many different colors,
so the hat matches every outfit!

A detailed STEP-by-STEP description as well as several knitting charts guide you through the knitting process.

The pattern is designed for a head circumference of about 50-54 cm.
However, it is simple to make it larger or smaller as needed.
Gauge is listed as always - for any adaptations!

And here is the pattern and more details...

Crochet Cap/Hat (m/f) with Small Cables

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

This pretty crochet cap/beanie – worked out for head circumference sizes 52 cm to approx. 60 cm – for men as well as women and children, gets great texture from the mini cables, so you can wear it in many variations, including as a hat.

The PDF pattern includes

  • Information on various alternative yarns
  • Short pattern (for printing)
  • Plenty of illustrated, detailed crochet instructions
  • Link tips, including for learning to crochet
Crochet skills - these stitches are used: chain stitches, slip stitches (explained), half double crochet, double crochet, front and back post double crochet (illustrated).

Difficulty level: intermediate

Required materials:
recommended 150 g (for me, exactly 100 g was enough – only a leftover strand of 30 cm remained)Adriafil Tabata, 100% wool, 50 g – 75 m, according to the yarn label for hook size 7.0, gauge according to the yarn label 13 sts x 18 rows = 10 x 10 cm;
Alternative yarns: “Chunky” weight with a similar yardage and label information (e.g., Rico Essentials Alpaca chunky);
Differing from the label information, hook sizes 6.5 and 9.0 were used here; gauge here with crochet hook 9.0: 10 double crochet = approx. 10 cm.
You will also need a measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends, stitch marker

Crochet Beanie “Tabata” & Möbius Shawl Collar/Loop (m/f)

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

Hello, dear crochet fans,

this crochet set (m/f) in fashionable gray consists of a beanie and a Möbius scarf collar/loop.

The PDF pattern is written for a head circumference of 52 cm – 60 cm and includes both – hat and loop (loop in one size).

It is illustrated, but requires general crochet skills (chain stitches, single crochet, double crochet, crocheting in rounds, slip stitches, increases and decreases). The special stitches are illustrated and described. I would describe the difficulty level as “intermediate.”

For the hat, 150 g is needed, and for the loop, 100 g of a yarn with 50 g – 75 m yardage is required. Unlike the hook size on the yarn label, this pattern is crocheted with crochet hook sizes 8.0 and 10.0.

Knitting Pattern Hat ALL-SEASON BEANIE from Sock Yarn

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

For this featherlight all-season beanie, which is made with knitting needles in various sizes (the brim with size 3.5 needles, the main part with size 6.0 needles, the decreases with 4.5 and 4.0) and, for the decoration, with a crochet hook size 3.0 - 4.0, 70 g of 6-ply sock yarn is enough, though 1 skein usually contains 150 g. So from the leftover yarn you can easily knit a small cowl or even 1 pair of socks up to shoe size 36/37 :-)

By the way: a sock-knitting course for 6-ply sock yarn is available here:
https://www.crazypatterns.net/de/items/22205/strickanleitung-socken-aus-6-faedigem-garn-lehrgang-mit-tabellen-fuer-alle-groessen

With colorful sock yarn, the color gradient—like in this picture—appears automatically.

These knitting skills are needed:
knit stitches, purl stitches, knitting in the round, slip-slip-knit decreases.Crochet skills: chain stitches, slip stitches

Difficulty level: medium, easy for experienced knitters

Knitted multifunctional loop, bolero, kidney warmer, shoulder warmer, hooded scarf

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

This versatile loop (wrapped around the neck twice) is knitted in the round from 6-ply sock yarn in the same yarn as the “all-season beanie.”

The PDF pattern is illustrated, but it is not a basic knitting course. General knitting skills are required.

Required materials:
150 g 6-ply sock yarn, here Austermann sock yarn Step 6 (= 6-ply) with aloe vera and jojoba oil, (75% virgin wool, 25% acrylic, 150 g = 375 m yardage, according to the ball band knitting needle size 3 - 4;
Gauge according to the ball band: 23 sts x 31 rows = 10 x 10 cm)
Stitch marker, measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends.
Used here: circular knitting needle size 6.0
(cable length at least 80 cm, more comfortable: 100 cm)
The gauge is always individual - please keep this in mind!

By the way: in sizes L-XL, the “bolero” fits in such a way that it can also be called a “kidney warmer.” For smaller clothing sizes, this area hangs in a fashionably relaxed way.
The hooded scarf does not completely cover the back of the head; this shows off long hair in a fashionable way.

100 g Fila Doro Killary or Schulana Donegal Tweed, gauge according to the ball band: 16 sts x 22 rows = 10 x 10 cm, 95% virgin wool, 5% cashmere, 50 g = 95 m yardage, - knitting needle 4.5–5.5,
used here: circular knitting needle size 5.0 with 40 cm cable length (60 cm cable length stretches a bit at the beginning of knitting, but can also be used); stitch marker, cable needle, yarn needle for weaving in ends, measuring tape, scissors

Knitted Hat “Cablé”: 2 knitting methods: in the round and in rows

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

.. looks like a cable pattern, but it isn’t one. You don’t need a cable needle for this :-).
Hats don’t necessarily have to be knitted in the round; I have described both hat-knitting methods, both in the round and in rows.

Worn a little farther back, the hat can also be worn as a subtle beanie..

The PDF pattern is illustrated, but it does require general knitting knowledge.

By the way, the pattern can easily be adjusted to any head size by knitting fewer or more stitches in the purl-knit section.

Required materials:
100 g (= 2 balls of 50 g each) Rico Creative Melange Chunky, 53% virgin wool, 47% acrylic, 50 g = 90 m yardage, gauge according to the ball band: 14 stitches x 19 rows = 10 x 10 cm, according to the ball band: knitting needle size 6 - 7, used here: circular knitting needle size 6.0

a)         if knitted in the round: with a cable length of 40 cm,
           60 cm cable length is a bit tight at the start of knitting, but can also be used;
           stitch marker

b)         if knitted in rows, the cable length doesn’t matter; it could then also be knitted with
           single-pointed needles;

yarn needle for weaving in ends, tape measure, scissors.
