HELP!!!! Single crochet or half double crochet together??

I'm totally lost... what does "2 single crochets together" or "2 half double crochets together" mean??

that means you make one stitch out of two stitches. You insert your hook into the first one, then directly—without pulling up the yarn—through the second one, and only then do you pull up the yarn and finish the stitch.
By the way, I prefer the invisible decrease; it doesn’t create any unsightly holes. For the invisible decrease, you insert your hook only into the front loops. So: insert your hook into the front loop of the first stitch, then into the front loop of the second stitch, pull up the yarn and draw it through both loops, and then, just like with normal crocheting, yarn over and crochet the stitch. 

Hm ... was that understandable?! There are surely some very helpful videos on YouTube

Thanks, Melanie, for your quick reply!!!! I think I kind of get it ;) but what’s the difference between single crocheting 2 together and half double crocheting 2 together??? If I yarn over before the first stitch, then go into the first one and then into the second one, I’ll have four stitches on the hook, right?? And then there’s already an annoying hole there
