Paper Cutting

Dear users, dear authors,
How does paper cutting work?
Do you like it? Do you have any experience with it?

I find paper cutouts fascinating—once they’re finished. Unfortunately, I’m not precise enough when cutting them out myself. Maybe an experienced crafter knows a trick for doing this better?

I have experience with paper cutouts, and I’d say the most important trick is to have a lot of patience :-).
The coarser cutouts work well even on photo cardstock, while the finer ones require construction paper. And despite the name, I hardly ever use scissors for this—I almost exclusively use a craft knife with replaceable blades.
I do have a very practical method, though, which I also use for all my craft projects—I don’t trace anything from the templates onto the craft paper; instead, I roughly cut out all the templates, secure them to the craft paper with pieces of painter’s tape, and cut my shapes directly through the templates—this not only saves me a step but also allows me to work with millimeter precision. To prevent the templates from slipping off the craft paper while cutting, I connect the cut edges of the templates and the craft paper with pieces of painter’s tape so that both layers stay attached to each other until the very end. Only when everything is finished do I peel the templates off the craft paper.
