My turtles are relatively easy and quick to knit from leftover yarn you have on hand. The pattern includes two sizes with a shell diameter of approx. 10 and 20 cm. So you can knit a whole turtle family from your leftover yarn if you like.
You will need:
Leftover yarn
set of double-pointed needles in a suitable size (approx. size 3)
stuffing
eyes

Erich the billy goat is an absolutely adorable cuddly friend, because even his horns are soft. And of course he has a magnificent goat beard that he lovingly tends. Erich is easier to knit than he looks, and thanks to the very detailed step-by-step pattern, knitters with a bit more experience will have great success with him.
(Pssssssst to all Cologne locals: With a red-and-white sweater, he’s sure to become the favorite of all FC Cologne fans! All I’ll say is: Hennes!)

And here comes Uncle Hermann, the Landrace pig. His great one-piece outfit is knitted from one skein of Noro sock yarn – the wonderful color gradients make knitting it a lot of fun. And Uncle Hermann is a joy in other ways too – provided he’s allowed to go to the pub now and then and knock back a beer with his buddies ;-)

Who’s burrowing through the garden and building wonderful, beautiful little mounds of earth? It’s Max the Mole, and he has made it his mission to turn Germany’s gardens into a fantastic hilly landscape. Just having lawn all the time is boring, after all ;-)
Max’s head is knitted with short rows, which gives it its lovely shape. Never tried that before? Then grab your needles, because with Max and my pattern they’re guaranteed to turn out well, and you can use the technique elsewhere too!
