The pattern for Barbie’s mermaid tail costs less than 1 € and is much prettier than the store-bought plastic ones, isn’t it?

You can crochet it from a bit of leftover yarn in the doll owner’s favorite colors, maybe even with some glitter yarn as an accent. Or you can embellish it with a few beads or sequins. Then it’ll be something truly special—and for very little money.

The tail is very easy to crochet. Maybe the little doll owner will try it herself if she already has a bit of crochet experience?

Keychain or a whole mobile? You and the amount of your leftover yarn decide what you use the airplane pattern for. It’s very easy and even crochet beginners can manage it without any trouble. The more colorful your leftover yarn, the prettier the mobile will be—a lovely decoration for a child’s room!

Potholder - the crochet classic

This potholder is considered a classic for crochet beginners.

For this you need 50 g cotton yarn per color for a size 4.5 crochet hook.

The PDF pattern is illustrated.

The following basic crochet skills are required:
(turning) chain stitch, single crochet, and slip stitch

LOOK IT UP instead of calculating - PDF table for knitting and crocheting

Here it is - the much-requested PDF table for determining the starting stitch count:
LOOK IT UP instead of calculating
- whether printed out or always at hand on a smartphone - this PDF table is simply practical on the go.

You crochet or knit your gauge swatch (at least 10 cm x 10 cm), count how many stitches you get over 10 cm, and can then conveniently look up in the table how many stitches you need to start with for your desired measurement.

********************************************************

Yarn requirements for standard DK yarns incl. explanation of yarn weights

For a rough idea of how much yarn knitted vests/sweaters/cardigans (baby size 50, children's, women's, and men's sizes up to 56) roughly require, see this PDF table.

The information in grams and meters refers to DK yarns with a yardage of 50 g - 120 m to 160 m for

a) stitch patterns with low yarn consumption (stockinette stitch)

b) stitch patterns with high yarn consumption (e.g., garter stitch)

The exact yarn requirement, however, depends on your individual knitting tension (gauge) and the stitch pattern used, or on the information in the patterns. No guarantee is given.

Also included are generally applicable details regarding gauge and needle/hook size for the different yarn weights Lace, 4-ply, DK, Aran, Chunky, Super Chunky, and Big.

Good luck with all your projects.

With this pattern, you can crochet a beautiful and stylish loop scarf yourself. You can combine it in endless ways, and it goes with many outfits. There is also a matching hat/beanie in my shop.
  • The loop scarf was crocheted with a soft yarn by Katia Matiz, making it very comfortable to wear. Of course, any other yarn can also be used.
  • The pattern includes detailed pictures and is suitable for beginners with basic crochet skills.
  • For this pattern, you should know the following stitches and terms: crocheting in rows, chain stitches, single crochet, double crochet, crocheting two double crochets together, slip stitches.
Materials: I used 50 g, 110 m of Katia Matiz (70% viscose, 26% alpaca, 4% wool). I used 5 balls for the loop scarf. Crochet hook size 4.
