At Pentecost, there are strawberries! Either as strawberry cake or as a delicious dessert, maybe even both. So the Strawberry Child simply has to be there. The sweet little guy is a lovely decoration for the table or windowsill. And the strawberry looks so amazingly real that you’ll want to eat it right along with everything else!
You can crochet it in no time from a few colorful cotton scraps.

Wonderfully suitable knitting project to take along!

Sock-knitting course for 4-ply yarn using newborn baby socks

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

This is an illustrated sock-knitting course using baby socks size 15 knitted from 4-ply sock yarn and

consists of a total of 4 PDF files:

Also included is a brief baby mitten pattern, since parts of the baby sock pattern can be used for it.

These basic knitting skills are enough:
cast on and bind off stitches, knit and purl stitches, knit stitches together

Don't be intimidated! Describing the process is harder than knitting the socks.

Materials needed:

  • approx. 15 g 4-ply sock yarn for the baby socks,
  • approx. 10 g 4-ply sock yarn for the baby mittens,
  • for adult socks up to size 44: 100 g 4-ply sock yarn,
  • if larger, then 150 g is required.

Set of double-pointed needles 2.5, measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle.

The baby socks can also be embroidered, for example, and used in various ways - not just as baby socks - e.g. as "packaging" for gifts of money or sweets, as an Advent calendar, as a keychain (scaled down proportionally, it looks prettier), and more.

By the way: for 6-ply sock yarn (click me) there is also a corresponding sock-knitting course with tables

For Pentecost, Barbie can be taken out to dinner looking very chic. She has dressed up especially elegantly for the occasion. In the black glitter dress with matching hat and little bag, she’ll be admired everywhere.

To make this outfit, you’ll need black glitter yarn (Gründl Glitter), a little black eyelash yarn (Brazilia by Schachenmayr), and a little silver thread (I used embroidery thread), as well as a 2.5 mm crochet hook.

You can download the crochet pattern here.

Is your little one crazy about unicorns, too? If you have some purple yarn at home, you can make this little unicorn in an afternoon—even if you’re just starting out with crochet. You probably already have the basic skills.

This crocheted shawl is an especially elegant accessory thanks to its incorporated beads. The beads also give it its name, because Peara is Maori, the language of the Indigenous people of New Zealand, and means pearl.

Even without beads, the shawl is a gorgeous eye-catcher. Because of its construction, it drapes especially beautifully and can be worn in many different ways. The pattern is very easy to memorize and quick to crochet.

The shawl can be varied in length and width, and can be crocheted with almost any yarn.
It looks especially beautiful in a gradient yarn from, for example, 100Farbspiele or Laceball by Schoppel.
Size after blocking: approx. 200 x 40 cm

Materials needed:

  • approx. 100–200 grams of wool (or 800–1000 meters)
  • Crochet hook suitable for the wool used (if you crochet tightly, use one size larger)
  • Beads (e.g., rocailles – the hole should be large enough that it
  • does not sit too tightly on the yarn)
  • a piece of very thin wire for threading the beads
  • Sewing needle for weaving in ends
Skills needed:
  • chain stitches
  • single crochet
  • double crochet
  • crocheting stitches together

The pattern is 11 pages long and includes a detailed photo tutorial on crocheting the beads into the edge and the floral pattern, a written-out version, and charts.
Difficulty level: easy.

A magical, elegant lace shawl that is just right for festive occasions during Pentecost is the Fuego shawl.

The pattern in this beautiful crocheted lace shawl is reminiscent of little flames, which is where the name comes from. Fuego is Spanish and means "fire".

The shawl is started at the neck edge and crocheted from top to bottom. It has a classic triangular shape.

Materials needed:
  • approx. 200 grams or approx. 750–800 meters of yarn (e.g., lace yarn, sock yarn, or a “cake” made of plied yarn)
  • crochet hook size 3–3.5
  • scissors
  • sewing needle
Skills needed:
  • chain stitches
  • single crochet
  • double crochet
  • treble crochet
Finished shawl measurements: approx. 180 x 80 cm.
The pattern is 10 pages long and contains written instructions as well as charts and a schematic drawing. Easy difficulty level.

  • crochet hook size 3.5–4
  • beads for the tassels, if desired
  • sewing needle
  • scissors
Skills needed:
  • single crochet
  • chain stitches
