Hello, everyone! Our names are Lenny and Leana, and we belong to the extremely rare breed of “dangly lions.” We’re about 17 cm tall when sitting and 30 cm long with our legs. We’re really very cuddly, house-trained, and tame :-). Our mom says we’re easy to crochet and therefore suitable for beginners. You should know how to: work single crochet stitches, increase and decrease single crochet stitches, sew on individual parts, make slip stitches, and create a magic ring. What you’ll need:

• Approx. 60g of yarn in yellow/beige or orange, depending on what color you want your lions to be. My boy is made from Schoeller Stahl’s Zimba Medium in color 0218. The girl is also made from Schoeller Stahl’s Zimba Medium in color 0022. The yarn recommends using a 3.5mm crochet hook, but I crocheted with a 3mm hook.
• Leftover white yarn for the cheeks and the belly. This leftover yarn should also be suitable for a 3mm hook
• Approx. 20 g of yarn for the mane; I used “fringe yarn” from the Schachenmayr “Brazilia” line, color 1027, lot 2206.
• Yarn for the nose and mouth, as well as a thin black thread for the eyebrows and the dots on the cheeks.
• 3mm crochet hook
• stuffing
• Darning needle and scissors
• 10mm safety eyes
• Pins to hold the limbs in place while sewing them on

The cute little piglet Freddy wants you to crochet him!! With his enchanting gaze and his long, lanky legs, he’s simply irresistible! Freddy is about 20 cm tall (including ears); the heart is about 6 cm tall and about 7 cm wide (at its widest point). His “wobbly legs” can move in all directions, which means he can sit perfectly on any table edge or corner. What you’ll need:

• A 3 mm crochet hook
• Approx. 60 g of pink yarn (I used Schachenmayr “Universa”) suitable for a 3 mm crochet hook. Approx. 15 g of white/cream-colored yarn for the feet and arms, also suitable for a 3 mm crochet hook. Black thread for the face.

Trudi is approx. 25–30 cm tall, depending on the yarn weight used. Single crochet, increases and decreases—a project that even ambitious beginners will enjoy. You will need approx. 130 g cotton yarn; I used organic cotton from Lana Grossa here, a size 3 crochet hook, stuffing, a blunt needle, and, if you like, two teddy bear eyes, or you can simply embroider the eyes. Of course, Trudi can be crocheted with any yarn/wool you like. This will only change the size and the amount of material needed.

Aren’t these two cute? The black-and-white kitten and the woolly little lamb are both made from teddy yarn and are crocheted using only single crochet stitches. This creates the unique plush effect, so you can hardly even tell anymore that the animals are crocheted. I used Phil Douce by Phildar; it is especially soft and cuddly. With this yarn, the animals turn out big enough that, if you like, you can also add a music box. Then the two can also help little ones fall asleep.

Most people have a healthy respect for hornets, and I do too—especially when they look this mean. The hornet is a perfect gift for men, because, as everyone knows, they love the “evil eye,” and they can easily put this hornet in their car.
