Good knitting needles

Hi, everyone, I have a question for the knitting experts:
I’m looking for really good, durable knitting needles. What I really don’t like are metal needles. So far, I’ve been knitting with ADDI bamboo needles—I actually think they’re pretty good, especially the click system—but with regular use, I’ve noticed that the tips tend to split over time. And in my experience, that happens pretty quickly. I don’t want to have to buy new knitting needles every three months. Do you have any tips for me? Which needles do you think are the best? I’m curious to hear your thoughts. Thank you so much, and warm regards,
Annette

Hi Anette,

I’ve been knitting with Knit Pro needles for two months now and
I’m totally thrilled with them.

Best regards,
Birgit

I’m not really picky and just use whatever I can get my hands on. I prefer knitting with straight single-pointed needles—it’s just much easier for me that way. But often, you can’t avoid using circular needles, especially when you have a lot of stitches.
In my experience, all needles have their pros and cons. I have a similar experience with bamboo needles as you do—after a while, they splinter and become unusable. That’s never happened to me with metal needles :-)
When it comes to circular needles, I prefer the ones where the cable is permanently attached to the needles. A while back, I bought a set of these screw-on KnitPros—I’m really impressed with the tips, which are great for lace patterns, but otherwise I find myself constantly checking to make sure the screw connection doesn’t come loose. I think I’d prefer KnitPros, but with a fixed connection. Do they happen to make something like that?

I swear by my Hiya-Hiyas. They’re relatively expensive, but they have such a nice point, and the cable doesn’t twist thanks to the ball joint.

I bought a set from Knit Pro.

Especially for larger projects knitted in the round, I find it great that I can connect the cables together.
No fiddly messing around when I want to try the piece on in between.

If I need the needle tips for another project, I just unscrew them and put the protective caps on the cables.

I also knit with Knit Pro and love these needles. But when I knit with lace yarn, I prefer metal needles because I find that the yarn glides better over the join to the cable.

I like the KnitPro Symfonie, and for socks I use the Sockenwunder from addi

Best regards,
Thordis
