Types of Yarn + Uses (No Advertising)

Dear users and authors,
someone suggested creating a thread about the different types of yarn and their uses. Here you go.

Sock yarn – socks ( ;-) ), but also shawls, scarves, home decor
Cotton – children’s clothing, summer clothing, summer accessories, amigurumi, home decor (table runners, etc.)
Merino (virgin wool) – accessories such as scarves, shawls, hats, gloves; clothing such as sweaters, jackets, vests, etc.; also home decor
Alpaca – particularly suitable for warm accessories and clothing
