A perfect accessory for First Communion is the elegant stole Galadriel. It can be knitted for young confirmands as a highlight to go with a Communion dress, or for proud mothers.

 

This beautiful stole is knitted from the center outward using a provisional cast-on. It is finished off with a beautiful leaf border. Two rows of beads are worked into the finishing edges, adding a little stability to the delicate pattern.

Materials needed:

• approx. 150 g lace or sock yarn (the yarn should not be any thicker, otherwise the airy character of the stole could be lost)
• beads
• a piece of very thin wire or dental floss
• scrap yarn for the provisional cast-on
• knitting needles size 2.5 - 4 mm
• crochet hook size 3.5 - 4 mm
• sewing needle for weaving in the ends
• scissors

Skills needed:

• knit stitches
• purl stitches
• yarn overs
• knitting stitches together
• increasing stitches
• decreasing stitches
• provisional cast-on (explained in the pattern)

Working in the beads is also explained. The pattern is 9 pages long and includes written instructions as well as charts and a schematic drawing.

A pretty shawl is a highlight for a festive First Communion dress. Like the Peara crochet shawl, whose incorporated beads give it that special finishing touch.

 

But even without beads, it is a real eye-catcher. Thanks to its construction, it drapes especially beautifully and can be worn in many different ways.

The shawl can be varied in length and width, and can be crocheted with almost any yarn.

It looks especially beautiful in a gradient yarn from, for example, 100Farbspiele or Laceball by Schoppel.
Size after blocking: approx. 200 x 40 cm.

Required materials:

• approx. 100–200 grams of wool/yarn (or 800–1000 meters)
• Crochet hook to match the yarn used (if you crochet tightly, use one size larger)
• Beads (e.g. rocailles – the hole should be large enough that it
• does not sit too tightly on the yarn)
• a piece of very thin wire for threading the beads
• Sewing needle for weaving in ends

• double crochet

Shawls are always a wonderful accessory for special occasions. And this triangular shawl is quick to crochet, too.

For this triangular shawl for all seasons, you can basically use any yarn you like – the thinner, the more elegant. Size: any.

For the size made here, approx. 70 cm x 162 cm, I used 350 g Schachenmayr Cotton Bamboo, 50 g – 120 m, recommended hook/needle size according to the label 3 – 4, here crochet hook 4.0. I would not recommend thicker yarn for visual reasons. I decided not to block the shawl for myself, because then the curves of the shell pattern stand out better – but that is a matter of taste.

These crochet skills are required:
chain stitches, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, front post double crochet (explained).

The PDF pattern is illustrated over 15 pages, but it is not a crochet course. A link/video tip for a crochet course, among other things, is included.

The PDF contains

• in the first part, a detailed pattern with corresponding illustrations,
• in the second part, a shorter version that is also illustrated, and
• last but not least, a brief scarf/shawl variation.

• crochet hook suitable for the yarn used (hook size 3 was used here)
• ribbon and possibly decorations (beads, little flowers...)
