April weather is lousy, but take comfort—summer will come eventually.
As the title above says:
One swallow doesn’t make a summer, but patterns for birds and flying creatures here on Crazypatterns are a wonderful way to make while waiting for summer.

In this thread, you’ll find everything that has wings and can fly.
Butterflies, birds, insects—even pterosaurs, if you like. Penguins are okay too; they don’t fly, but they have wings.

One swallow doesn't make a summer, but maybe an eagle does? Because this regal animal is no small task, but a project that takes a little more time—and before you know it, summer will be here. 

To make this majestic animal, you will need quite a lot of material, patience, and experience. 

Difficulty level: Difficult (you should already have good crochet skills)

What you need: 

Supplies:

•      Binding wire for chain-link fences, approx. 12 meters
  
•      Regular craft wire 5x 
  
•      Thin brown craft wire from Rayer 1x
  
•      Two yellow eyes, approx. 17 mm
•      Some wide elastic band
•      Scissors,  lots of glue, small brush, 5-6 x hairspray and/or spray starch
  
•      Pliers for cutting and bending wire 
  
•      Lots and lots of stuffing (coarse pillow filling for the body + regular stuffing)
  
•     Optional/Recommended: lead sheets approx. 500 g (sometimes available free as scraps from roofing/plumbing companies) or perforated metal plates from the hardware store (the main thing is that they are heavy and flat)

Yarn:      Happy Anti-Pilling (or other yarn for hook size 3.5-5)

Hook size 3.5 and 4, various yarn needles 

This crocheted hen and her chick probably can’t fly very well,
but they are very beautiful anyway,

you need smooth cotton yarn and fluffy yarn, and a size 4.5 crochet hook

The first butterflies are already on their way, even if it’s still wintry cold on some days. To make sure the joy of the coming summer doesn’t fly away even on days like these, why not bring a few colorful butterflies to your windows?



These butterflies are made from photo cardstock and transparent paper, measure approx. 27.3 x 14.5 cm, and are easy for beginners to make, too. The colors of the transparent paper can be varied, so many different butterflies can be made using the same templates. The butterflies are easy to make, but you should have some practice using a craft knife.
