Have you been invited at short notice to an after-work party or a romantic dinner and once again have nothing suitable to wear? How about an airy yet truly elegant poncho?


You can crochet the poncho longer or shorter as you like by repeating the pattern repeats as desired. The 18-page pattern includes a crochet chart as well as written instructions with many step-by-step pictures.


A gauge is also provided, so you can crochet the poncho larger or smaller as desired.

Difficulty level: Easy

What you need:

Approx. 200–250 g of any yarn cake – 4-ply with glitter thread – 1000–1200 m yardage, recommended hook size 3.5 mm

Measurements for the L/XL model

Shoulder opening approx. 55 cm 
Total width approx. 115 cm 
Length from neck to point approx. 50 cm in the center/35 cm side panels/43 cm to the corners

Skills needed:

Chain stitches, single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet, slip stitches

This is a brief PDF pattern for a featherlight and very easy-to-knit poncho in one size, made from just 100 g of KidSilk (Austermann). The pattern includes the preview image.

These knitting skills are enough:
casting on, edge stitch (your favorite edge stitch), knit and purl stitches, bind off.


By the way: The poncho can also be knitted as a warm outdoor poncho with thick yarn, 100 g - 100 m, using US size 11 (8.0 mm) needles. Required yarn amount approx. 700 g. The stitch count always depends on your individual gauge (recommendation: PDF table READ OFF instead of Calculating (click me).
