I need help translating between English and German

Hi there,

does anyone know what the following sentence means:

Note: Stitches are created and decreased in the stitch pattern. These created and decreased stitches are not included in any stitch counts beyond row 12.

I don't quite understand the meaning of this sentence

could this perhaps be a drop-stitch pattern?

“Stitches are made and lost” means that a stitch is first “made” — probably increased in some way — and then at some point “lost,” meaning it is likely dropped.

The second sentence probably indicates that these dropped stitches are not included in the stitch count from row 12 onward.

I don’t think this is a drop-stitch pattern. I do increase stitches by working a yarn over. Later, I decrease those stitches again by knitting 2 together. The pattern repeats every 12 rows.
But somehow I still don’t understand exactly what that means...

Okay, without knowing the pattern, I’m afraid I can’t help you any further.
Is there perhaps a knitting chart you can work from?
Did you purchase the pattern here, or is it a free pattern?

Could it perhaps be a brioche pattern? There is a variation where you make yarn overs in one row and then knit them together with the corresponding stitch in the next row, so you basically treat the yarn over + stitch as one stitch. That may be why there’s a note saying that these stitches are no longer counted later on.

But I think that thanks to the answers from the forum, I’ll be able to make progress on my knitting project.

It forms a lace pattern: 1 stitch is increased 4 times in each right-side row, and then 2 stitches are knitted together 4 times.

But I think that means the stitches increased and decreased are no longer counted from row 12 onward. So there are always the same number of stitches in rows 1 and 12.
