Summer Socks for Cold Tile Floors

In winter, of course, you need lots of cuddly warm socks and slippers, but even in summer you can’t do entirely without them. Anyone who has cold tile floors at home will understand. That’s when lightweight socks or even lightweight slippers are a real treat.

Thanks to the lovely lace pattern, these little socks are ideal for summer days. The socks are crocheted from the toe up. This offers two advantages:
1. If working with a set of double-pointed needles is too complicated for you when knitting socks, you can achieve the same result with a crochet hook.
2. You can make the cuff any length you like and, for example, base it on how much yarn is still left. Crocheted as sneaker socks, 50 g is enough too.
The pattern for sizes 36/37, 38/39, and 40/41 is written in detail, so ambitious beginners can succeed too.
You will need:

• 100 g sock yarn 400 m/100 g (45% viscose, 40% wool, 15% polyamide)(I used Gründl Londra color 02.)
• Crochet hook 3.0

The best remedy for cold feet is warm socks.
These children’s bed socks are summer bed socks because they’re knitted from soft cotton yarn. They fit size 26. For ages approximately 2–2.5 years.



Materials Soft cotton yarn for needle sizes 2.5 to 3.0, in a color of your choice
Two long needles for needle sizes 2.5 to 3.0. A set of double-pointed needles of the same size for the cuff at the top of the leg.

You need to be able to knit a k2, p2 rib for the cuff, as well as slip-slip-knit decreases; otherwise, you just need to be able to knit stockinette stitch.

These socks are special because the heel is much easier to knit than what you’ve done before.

  Socks for size 38/39

You’ll need:
100g of mottled yarn, e.g. from Gründl Socks. Color of your choice.

You’ll need to know how to:

• Knit in the round with a set of double-pointed needles. You must know knit and purl stitches.
• For the cuff, you’ll also need to pick up stitches from the bar between stitches,
• and make a slipped decrease.

Ideal for cold tile floors are socks made from 6-ply sock yarn, because they are a bit thicker and therefore also more durable when you walk around in them without shoes than socks made from 4-ply yarn:

Socks made from 6-ply sock yarn are a little thicker – and therefore also warmer – and above all quicker to knit than socks made from 4-ply yarn. They are usually preferred for house and bed socks, hut slippers, or even for hiking in mountain boots. Men love socks like these in work boots.

This is basically a sock-knitting course, illustrated in detail using children’s socks in size 32/33. All other sizes can be knitted according to the corresponding tables for 6-ply sock yarn.

Don’t be alarmed! It is harder to describe the process than to knit the socks.

We need

• 1 ball = 150 g (yardage approx. 420 m to 450 m) up to shoe size 44;
• 200 g – 250 g from size 45

of a 6-ply sock yarn, the especially soft specialty yarn color 02 “Mally Socks – Lungauer Sockenwolle” by Ferner Wolle is used here, 75% merino, 25% polyamide; gauge approx. 22 sts x 31 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm; set of double-pointed needles 3.5; row counter is helpful; measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends.

These socks are knitted from the toe up and fit almost all sizes.
They’re also suitable for beginners, since knitting the heel is not required. You just need to know how to knit with 4 needles.

The technique used for these shoes consists of: knit stitches, purl stitches, knitting stitches together, and increasing stitches.

Materials needed: For the main color, approx. 100 g of four-ply sock yarn, leftover yarn in a matching color, a set of double-pointed needles size 4, 2 needles size 2, 4 buttons, shoelaces, cord, or ribbon.
