Crafts at a major coffee roaster chain, too

Hi
a well-known coffee roaster chain currently has (a new theme world every week)
craft supplies on offer
I’ll just post a link here
otherwise it doesn’t really make sense to explain what I was thinking.
Here’s the overview
http://www.tchibo.de/naehen-schneidern-kleiderpflege-ordnung-t400022816.html?wbdcd=EpcIb688D8
and here’s what made me stop and wonder

This is one of the sewing patterns they have there, together with the pre-cut fabric.

I saw it while shopping yesterday and actually stopped in front of the shelf, a bit surprised.

It’s nice that this coffee roaster chain is jumping on the crafting trend, too.
But I just can’t quite get my head around it.
You buy pre-cut fabric and then sew the bag yourself.
It’s easy and simple — that’s true.

But where’s the creativity?
I mean, sure, you can still use the sewing pattern afterwards to sew other bags using that same pattern.
Then you’re also free to choose the fabric, etc.

But the whole thing seems a bit too simple to me.
They also have sewing kits for phone cases and makeup bags.

I think this is more for people who want to try it all out once so they can join in the conversation, so to speak.
But there isn’t really anything there for people who seriously want to learn how to sew.

On the other hand
maybe that’s exactly what customers want/wish for/need?

I’m not sure what to think of it. So I’d be glad if other users could say something about it too.

In theory, I could be completely indifferent — I don’t have to buy it.
This may be a silly question, but what does it say about our society when things you’re actually supposed to do yourself — choosing fabric, cutting it out, etc. — are done by a factory?

But then there are also ready meals, takeout, delivery services
so it would actually be logical to offer semi-finished sewing kits for sewing, too.

But maybe it could help make crafts a little better known again.

As you can see, I’ve given this a lot of thought, even though maybe that isn’t necessary at all. Well, just tell me what you think. I think I’m taking it a bit too seriously :)
That’s what comes of hanging around here on Crazypatterns and therefore being “into” the topic. :)

Hallo Muetzekatze,

sundown
