Decreases (English) What does that mean exactly?

Hi,

I'm just not sure whether I've understood part of an English knitting pattern correctly. Can someone help me and explain what this means:

dec. 1 st at each end of next and every foll 3rd row for 26 rows.

Here’s my attempt at translating it: Decrease 1 stitch at the end of the row. Do this on the next row and then on every 3rd row. Repeat for the next 26 rows.

I hope that’s correct?

“at each end” means at both ends, so decreases on both sides. In the next row, you decrease 2 stitches—one on each side—and then decrease 2 stitches again in every 3rd row. After 26 rows, there will likely be instructions on what to do next.

The pattern is from the book “Lullaby Knits” by Vibe Ulrik Sondergaard.
