Dear users, dear authors,
Knitting is fun, but every knitter started out small. When you’re still a beginner, you’ll appreciate simple and doable knitting patterns all the more. And if you can make them using leftover yarn, that’s ideal.
In this thread, you can not only discover knitting patterns for beginners, but also exchange ideas with like-minded people.
Get the knitting patterns now.

@Authors,
this is a promotional thread for all authors. 2–3 knitting patterns per author are sufficient. Please don’t forget to include a link and image, as well as information on materials, techniques, difficulty level, and any special features of the pattern.

Summer Shirt, Quick to Knit

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

This easy-to-knit summer model size 38/40 is made from 250 g cotton-blend yarn for needle size 3.5 - 4.0, 50 g - 125 m.

The PDF pattern is illustrated.

The finished shirt has a stretchy back width of approx. 44 cm and is approx. 65 cm long, but it also looks pretty when shorter.

Basic knitting skills are enough. Thanks to the simple pattern (made of yarn overs, knit and purl stitches) and the cut, this piece can easily be adjusted to any size.

What else you need:

Measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends, stitch holder, optionally a set of double-pointed needles size 3.5 - 4.0; row counter and stitch marker are helpful, but not strictly required.

New printable gauge conversion table recommended:

SOFTY Sleeveless Knitted Dress – All Yarns

(Click the image to purchase/download )

...keeps you wonderfully warm and is quick and easy to knit with thick yarns. It also works well as a “seat warmer” under an outdoor jacket ;-)

The PDF quick pattern includes the images from the photo gallery and is laid out over 6 pages so that the garment can be easily adjusted to your individual measurements.

Yarn used here: Austermann Softy (98% merino, 2% PAM) – Hand wash; 50 g = 53 m LL,
Knitting needles 10.0 to 12.0; used here: size 10 circular needles, at least 80 cm in length.
Gauge according to the label: 8 sts = 10 cm

  • Size XS/S 500 g
  • Size M 550 g
  • Size L 600 g
  • Size XL/XXL 700 g

Stitch markers, measuring tape, scissors, a second circular needle (or thread the stitches onto a contrasting thread) to hold the stitches, a needle for weaving in ends. You can also use any other yarn of your choice with the appropriate needle size .

The following knitting skills are sufficient:
casting on, knit and purl stitches, edge stitches, bind off, knitting in rows and rounds, picking up stitches. A knitting class is not included, but we do provide helpful links.

For beginners making hats, I’d like to recommend my Oidaa hat. It’s really not difficult and can be knitted with sock yarn or slightly thicker yarn, using either a set of double-pointed needles or a circular needle.
The pattern is available in three different sizes, from teen to large adult, and you can find it here.

Beautiful colors + simple pattern + great shape = a snood you simply must have!

This loop scarf in a tartan look looks sophisticated, yet is so easy to make that it is also suitable for beginners !

The circumference is about 80 cm, and the height is approx. 50 cm.
However, the included sizing template and the gauge make it possible to adjust the size individually.

You will also find a chart of the color scheme as well as a detailed description in the pattern.
In addition, extensive photo documentation helps guide you through the knitting process.
The tartan technique is also described and illustrated in detail.

This infinity scarf, knitted in a simple rib pattern, is also well suited for beginners. With the thick yarn (100 m per 100 g), that sense of achievement won’t be long in coming either. You’ll need an 8 mm circular needle and a stitch marker.

You can find the pattern here .

The elegant cowl has a timeless pattern and is reversible. It works up quickly in crochet, has an easy difficulty level, and should not be a problem for a beginner.
For a cowl with a diameter of approx. 80 cm and a height of approx. 20 cm, you will need: • Yarn in one or more colors (3 x 50g, approx. 140m, 75% virgin wool, 25% polyamide) • Crochet hook size 1.75 - 2.0
