Dear users, dear authors,
in summer, it’s nice to leave doors and windows open. That’s when it’s practical to have a doorstopper that keeps the doors open so the wind can’t slam them shut. Of course, there’s no reason why the doorstopper can’t also be decorative.
Here you can discover suitable patterns for doorstoppers.

@Authors,
please present thematically suitable patterns here. 2-3 patterns per author are enough. Please include a link and image, as well as material information, difficulty level, details about what makes the pattern special, and technique information. Good luck.

Window stoppers would also be great so that windows don’t slam shut in a draft!

Sew your very own personal helper with my detailed and fully illustrated pattern!

https://www.crazypatterns.net/de/items/23233/naehanleitung-tuerstopper-maritim

The doorstop with a cotton cover protects doors and walls and adds a touch of charm to the room with its nautical design. It evokes a longing for sun, beach, and sea, while also bringing back fond memories—such as those of a past vacation—and also makes an ideal gift. The weighted inner insert can be removed separately, so the doorstop can also be used as a bag or storage basket when unfilled.
  • Length of the sewing pattern: 32 pages
  • Dimensions of the finished doorstop: approx. 40 cm high
  • Weight: approx. 1.5–2 kg
  • Step-by-step PDF pattern with plenty of explanations and pictures
  • Easy to understand
  • Also suitable for sewing beginners
Materials
  • Various outer fabrics (shown here: denim, beige canvas, and “Fryetts Fabric Maritime Blue” patterned fabric), width approx. 50 cm
  • 2 pieces of cotton fabric for the inside, each approx. 35 cm high x 50 cm wide
  • 1 piece of red-and-white-striped cotton fabric for the drawstring closure, approx. 25 cm high x 50 cm wide (the exact fabric measurements are listed in the pattern)
  • Vlieseline H 640 for thin outer fabrics
  • Stuffing or pillow filling
  • 1.5–2 kg of bird sand or granules
  • an old pair of sheer tights
  • Scissors
  • Pen and, if necessary, tailor’s chalk
  • Pins or clips
  • Ruler or measuring tape
  • Sewing machine
  • Needle/thread
  • Wooden beads or similar
  • Hemp rope or parcel string for a nautical look

Let me introduce Eddy and Freddy, two cheeky little tomcats who aren’t just great as decorations: thanks to their size and the heavy filling in their bellies, they’re heavy enough to hold a row of books in place or prop open a door.

The pattern explains step by step, with plenty of pictures, how you can make a tomcat like this yourself. It’s therefore also suitable for ambitious beginners who already have basic crochet skills.

¸.๑✿ Required Skills ✿๑ .¸

  • Chain stitches, slip stitches, and single crochet
  • Half double crochet, double crochet, and triple crochet
  • Increasing stitches and crocheting them together
  • Magic ring
  • Sewing the pieces together and weaving in ends
  • Embroidering faces
¸.๑✿ Materials Needed ✿๑ .¸

  • Cotton yarn in a light, medium, and dark color (approx. 1/2/2 balls at 125m/50g)
  • as well as a small amount of multicolored and black cotton yarn (scraps will suffice)
  • A crochet hook in the appropriate size
  • Lightweight stuffing and heavy filling material
  • A yarn needle
  • Colored safety eyes, approx. 10 mm in diameter
  • A teddy bear nose measuring about 15 x 10 mm
  • Optional: A small bell for the bow around the neck
