Lent (no advertising)

Dear users, dear authors,
Carnival is over. With today’s Ash Wednesday, Lent begins—at least for Catholics.
Who among you is fasting? What are you giving up? Sweets? TV? Cigarettes?
This thread is a place for you to share your resolutions and motivate one another.
But no cheating. :-)

I’m not fasting at all.
But since I don’t smoke anymore anyway, hardly drink any alcohol, and eat a very healthy, almost meat-free diet (with a few sweet exceptions—but that’s okay once in a while ;)), I don’t think it’s necessary :)

I do wish everyone who is fasting lots of perseverance and a wonderful Lent :)

I’m not fasting either. I don’t always eat healthily, but I lack the discipline to fast. I try to go meat-free two days a week.  As long as I don’t run into a ham sandwich or something like that, it usually works out! :-)
I’m lucky that my husband is a great cook, and when I get home at 9:15 p.m., a delicious meal is waiting for me!

I’m not fasting either—at least not when it comes to food and drink.

But since I have a bit of a passion for video puzzle games, last year I started for the first time by not touching a single game for the entire Lenten season. I stuck with it and was amazed at how little I actually needed it.

That’s exactly what I want to do again this year. These days I hardly play at all, but I can easily do without it entirely. And when I’m on the go, I always have a little crochet project in my purse, because unfortunately, I can’t go without any distraction at all.

I’ve already been thinking today about what I could give up for Lent,
I don’t drink alcohol, I don’t eat meat, I don’t smoke, and I enjoy chocolate in small amounts (2 squares with my coffee), but as Tina already wrote, that’s a must!
Giving up knitting or crocheting would be a punishment, not fasting,
now I know something: I’ll leave out the pasta when I cook (I don’t like it anyway!), so I’ve found something
!!
but now, to everyone who’s seriously fasting, I wish you lots of perseverance.

I’m not fasting, but I’m currently trying to lose a few pounds, so I’m cutting out sweets completely. And that’s hard.... *sigh*
But I have a goal in mind, and I want to reach it. ;-)

@Michaela,

- also Körper und Seele baumeln lassen.

No, I’m not fasting. But since the beginning of the week, I’ve made one change to my diet. Instead of the wheat muesli roll with raisins from the bakery, I’ve been having homemade muesli for breakfast—made with rolled oats, plain quark, honey, fresh fruit, sunflower seeds,  chia seeds, nuts, etc. I can already tell that it keeps me full for a long time and my acid reflux problems are gone. I’ll keep testing it out and will probably stick with it. Once the fresh fruit from my garden is ready, it’ll taste even better.
To everyone who wants to consciously give something up for 40 days, I wish you the best of luck.
