Wanderlust (regular advertising thread)

Dear users, dear authors,
at home is where it’s nicest, but sometimes the big wide world calls to us.
Conveniently, you can easily take your crochet project with you, for example. It’s harder with a sewing machine, but you can sew on a button while you’re out and about.
If you have to stay at home but would love to travel, you can discover patterns here in this thread that ease your wanderlust and make the time until your next big vacation far, far away feel a little shorter.

Tip: Of course, there is also room here in this thread for all maritime motifs.

 @Authors
please present thematically suitable patterns here. Image, link, and text with information about the material, difficulty level,
technique, and what makes the pattern special must be included. Much
success.

Longing for summer, sun, sand, and sea?
Are you dreaming of walks on Caribbean beaches?

Dance with Dolphins - Dance with Dolphins is a beautiful crochet shawl that lets you dream yourself far away—to a place with sparkling blue-green water and dolphins dancing in it.

For the shawl you will need:
  • approx. 1200 - 1300 meters of yarn (e.g., from 100Farbspiele)
  • crochet hook in the appropriate size (if you crochet tightly, it’s better to choose one size larger)
  • sewing needle for weaving in the ends
Finished size approx. 200 x 90 cm. Only basic crochet skills are needed for the shawl (slip stitches, single crochet, chain stitches, double crochet, etc.). Easy difficulty level.

The pattern is 21 pages long and includes written instructions as well as charts and a schematic drawing.

And the best part: For a short time, you can still save up to 25% on the pattern price.

Click here and get the wonderful pattern!

Whenever I go on vacation, I always bring some kind of craft project with me.
I’ve even bought yarn in Milan because, once again, I couldn’t walk past the store without buying something.

Summer, sun, beach, and sea. .. a seahorse bag is meant to come along on your travels.
And if it’s not quite finished yet, that’s no problem either. It already holds and stores the different balls of yarn while you’re crocheting. Summertime is vacation time... this bag brings that vacation feeling right to you. With its colors and design, it evokes the beach and the sea. Or maybe it’s a bag for the pool? Gym class or the playground? No matter how you use it, it has room for plenty. Materials:
  • "Limone" cotton yarn by Schoeller+Stahl, 50g/125 m
  •  3x dark blue
  •  2x turquoise
  •  1x natural white or cream
  •  A knitting dolly or a 90 cm long cord
  •  Crochet hook size 2.5
Skills:
  • single crochet
  • slip stitch
  •  increases
  • color changes (tapestry crochet)
  • closed rounds and spiral rounds

Perfect for warm days—whether over a bikini at the beach or over a tank top in the city—always an eye-catcher!

And if the trip takes longer—it’ll be finished by the time you land ;-)

The mesh pattern is sturdy and doesn’t stretch out of shape, because the slipped stitches alternate.

The pattern includes a precise cut for size 38/40.
However, the gauge in combination with the cut makes it possible to make any size!

Dear Josefa,
Instead of your crochet supplies, you can also take your knitting with you on vacation. I NEVER go on vacation without my knitting. That way, I can still make the best of any rainy week.
And for everyone who feels the same way, I have a craft recommendation: The yarn for this wonderfully light, flattering summer poncho weighs only 180 g. Add a 3.5 mm knitting needle—it fits in any luggage.

And by the end of your vacation, you’ll have this fantastic, one-of-a-kind summer poncho!
I hope you enjoy knitting it and that you get plenty of vacation sunshine between knitting sessions.
Best wishes—Ina

Summer Top with Waterfall Collar, quick to knit

Knitted at the beach (or wherever) and put on right away - that's what makes this top top:

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

This summer top with the unusual collar is pleasantly stretchy and quick and easy to knit.

The download also includes an Excel table for converting your individual gauge. For this you will need Excel or LibreOffice; the latter is available online as a free download.

The PDF pattern is illustrated, but it is not a basic knitting course (a link for basic knitting techniques is included).

These knitting skills are used:
cast on stitches, purl and knit stitches, yarn over, knit stitches together, slip-slip-knit decrease (is explained), increase from the strand between stitches, bind off stitches.

We need for sizes S/M/L:
300 g cotton (blend) tape yarn, Keiki by Austermann used here, 63% cotton, 37 % polyamide, for needle size 5 – 6, gauge according to the ball band 16 stitches x 23 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm, 50 g – 90 m. Pins for blocking, measuring tape, yarn needle for sewing in ends, scissors, row counter is helpful. Used here: knitting needle size 5.0.

Wishing you a lovely spring / (early) summer with lots of knitting and/or crochet fun!

I especially like taking yarn for a loop scarf with me when I travel on vacation. During the flight / trip, I crochet, and in the end I have a lovely accessory with me to wear right away. No extra weight in the suitcase.

For my crochet loop scarf, one skein of yarn is enough. For example, Schachenmayr Tahiti, LL 280 m/ 50 g. But of course you can also use any other yarn with a similar yardage.
