Hi, everyone.
I have a little problem. My mom gave me 4 skeins of thick yarn (200g, 120m, NS 7-8) that she originally wanted to use to knit a sweater for my daughter. She said, “You can do that too—you have more time than I do.”
I knew right from the start that it would be way too thick, so I tried crocheting a jacket out of it using size 10 hooks and double crochet stitches, thinking that would make it looser.
But it’s still too thick for my daughter, and it also looks very stiff.
Does anyone have any ideas for what to do with this thick yarn? We have more than enough hats and scarves, and it’s not suitable for a rug because we have cats....
I’d probably crochet a nice bag out of such thick yarn.
Another great thing you could definitely make with it is a storage basket—or even several.
Maybe a backpack for your daughter would work, too.
What do you think?
Ich würde ein Kissen häkeln. Schau dir doch mal mein Eulen-, Katzen- oder Pferdekissen an. Die sind alle mit einer sehr dicken Wolle gehäkelt. Das geht schnell und sieht super aus.
Wow, that’s a lot of suggestions!
Thank you all so much. I think I’ll probably make a pillow and some storage baskets; a cat cave would be cool, but the yarn is royal blue, and the cats (two Norwegian Forest Cats) shed white fluff—as soft as cotton wool—so it would look terrible after just two days. Besides, they’re both so big—I don’t even have that much thick yarn *laughs* Maybe I’ll make one out of light-colored thick yarn or fabric yarn sometime.
Thanks again!
