I’m not exactly in need of a vacation right now.
However, we do take short trips every now and then. I’m using these days to knit and crochet a few tops and summer sweaters.

Oh, as a retiree, I’m on permanent vacation — we go away for a spa treatment every year. I’m knitting a sweater there at the moment.

Vacation... who doesn’t think of summer, sun, beach, and the ocean?

For a wonderful day at the beach, the “Dance with Dolphins” crochet shawl is just the thing.
It brings to mind the Caribbean, turquoise water, and the sun glistening on the water.

Materials needed:
  • approx. 1,200–1,300 meters of yarn (e.g., from 100Farbspiele)
  • Crochet hook in the appropriate size (if you crochet tightly, choose one size larger)
  • Sewing needle for weaving in the ends
Finished size: approx. 200 x 90 cm

This shawl requires only basic crochet skills (slip stitches, single crochet, chain stitches, double crochet, etc.).

The pattern has been test-crocheted and checked for errors. It spans 21 pages and includes professionally created crochet charts, written instructions, and a diagram.
Difficulty level: easy to medium.

Perfect for warm days - whether over a bikini at the beach or over a tank top in the city - always an eye-catcher!

The mesh pattern is sturdy and doesn’t warp, since the slipped decreases are worked alternately.

The pattern includes a precise schematic for size 38/40.

The gauge in combination with the schematic, however, makes it possible to make it in any size!

For more details, just click on the image below.

On vacation, you can easily feel like you’re floating on little pink clouds, so a shawl with exactly that name comes at just the right time, doesn’t it?

“Pink Little Clouds” is a pretty narrow shawl crocheted from tip to tip. The border, which is reminiscent of little clouds, is crocheted on as you go, and the shape is created through even increases and decreases.

You can make the shawl with many different yarns, whether designer yarn or sock yarn – there are no limits to your creativity.
Even leftover yarn can be used wonderfully with this design.

No special crochet skills are needed for the shawl, but basic knowledge should be present (chain stitches, single crochet, double crochet, crocheting stitches together).

Materials needed:
  • approx. 600 – 800 meters of yarn (depending on yardage)
  • crochet hook in the corresponding size (if you crochet very tightly, it’s better to choose a hook one size larger)
  • kitchen scale or other digital scale to determine half of the yarn used
  • needle for weaving in the ends
The finished shawl measures approx. 200 x 90 cm.
The pattern is 15 pages long and includes a detailed photo tutorial, detailed charts, and a schematic drawing. Difficulty level: easy.

The wonderfully light PaPuLi linen shawl will instantly put you in a vacation mood. I knitted it using Puro Lino by Lanartus, dyed by Gesa Drechsler (Buttjebeyy).
You’ll need 3 skeins of 100g each, with 210m per skein.

The linen is summery, light, and wonderful for the cooler hours in the morning and evening.
This shawl is beginner-friendly, as it consists of knit stitches, purl stitches, and yarn overs.

The pattern is explained row by row, and some sections are also illustrated with charts.

When you’re really in need of a vacation, you need creative projects that bring relaxation and joy. Your mind drifts away from everyday life, and you lose yourself in crocheting or knitting. Black would be the wrong color now—it has to be COLORFUL! So let’s go: Lots of color, lots of good cheer, lots of vacation feeling.

Just look at the bright colors of my rug “Kunterbunt”, don’t you immediately feel like searching through your leftover yarn box and getting started? Round by round, this rug becomes more fun, because new color combinations keep coming to mind and delight you.

I wish you lots of joy crocheting and relaxing—yours, Ina

Bring that vacation feeling home with the Ocean Waves Shawl.

The longing for sun and sea has flowed into this knitting pattern.

And if you knit your shawl with a blue gradient bobble, you can hear the sound of the sea while you knit.

Well, tempted?

I hope you have lots of fun knitting and enjoy your vacation feeling.

I’m happy to help if you have any questions.

Best wishes

Christa

Who doesn’t know this? You’re on vacation and come across a wonderful yarn shop with yarns you simply have to have right away. And of course, you want to start knitting immediately.

Knitting needles are in your luggage, stitch markers too, a sewing needle and scissors as well, of course—but often you need a scale to calculate yarn usage. With the knitting pattern for the pretty Nimrodel lace shawl, that isn’t necessary.
This shawl can be knitted with almost any delicate summer yarn.
Simply print out the pattern or read it on your tablet and get started.

You can focus completely on the pattern repeats, which require no further prerequisites apart from a little experience with yarn overs and knitting stitches together. After a few rows, you’ll have the pattern structure in your head and can knit away mindlessly until the yarn is used up.
Only the provisional cast-on requires a bit more knowledge, but it is explained in detail in this pattern.

Materials needed:

  • 2 circular knitting needles suitable for the chosen yarn (one with a longer cable, one with a shorter cable, or a cable system such as KnitPro or Knitpicks
  • Crochet hook
  • Stitch markers
  • Sewing needle
  • Scissors
Since the points may curl slightly after blocking (especially in humid weather), I recommend treating them with a little spray starch while blocking. This will make them more stable.

The pattern was test-knitted and checked for errors and clarity. It comprises 9 pages and contains detailed charts (no written instructions!) as well as photos and a schematic drawing.
Intermediate difficulty level.

Ideal to take along in your handbag or travel luggage - this lace shawl weighs almost nothing and is ready for versatile use whenever needed:

These crochet skills are enough: chain stitches, single crochet, slip stitches.

The PDF crochet pattern includes

  • Step-by-step illustrated pattern

Materials
:
Basically, you can use any yarn you like, with a hook about one to two sizes larger than recommended on the respective yarn label.
Fine lace yarns are especially recommended for this pattern. 4-ply sock yarn also works well.

used here:

Summer, sun, vacation vibes—this skirt is a must-have.
You can make it in your desired length. As a mini skirt for a party or the beach, or knee-length for a restaurant visit. It can be made in all sizes. This pattern is not necessarily suitable for beginners!

Click here to go to the pattern:

Material usage depends on hook and yarn thickness:
  • Crochet hook of your choice, here size 3.5
  • e.g., for skirt size 36, 160 g of yarn was used (here Bravo by Schachenmayr with a length of 133 m/50 g)
  • e.g., for skirt size 128/134, 140 g of yarn was used (here Bravo by Schachenmayr with a length of 133 m/50 g)
  • 1 button (size also depends on the yarn and hook thickness)
  • possibly ribbon and decorations (not a MUST)

Inspired by the colors of the Caribbean (or at least how I imagine them), I created this knitted bag. Made with thick cotton yarn (69 m per 50 g), it knits up quickly and isn’t difficult at all.
You’ll need: 2 skeins of Color A and 1 skein of Color B, a 5mm circular needle, a stitch marker, and a darning needle.

You can find the pattern here .

How about a weekend trip to London? “Boho in Soho” is a great companion for that. It’s a knitted summer scarf made of cotton—not exactly easy, but not too difficult either. You’ll need to know how to do drop stitches, as well as increases and decreases.
What makes this scarf special is that it’s not only knitted but also crocheted. The long body is knitted, but the ends are crocheted.

Click here for the pattern and more details .
