Dear users, dear authors,
Möbius scarves—twisted loops—are currently very popular. So I thought we’d just start a thread for them so you can discover or share the latest patterns. Have fun with it.

@Authors
Please post relevant patterns here. Be sure to include a link, an image, and text with all the necessary information about the materials, difficulty level, technique, and what makes the pattern special. You can also mention blog posts on related topics. Have fun!

A very special kind of Möbius is the Mimikry. Why?

It's a Möbius without a Möbius cast-on, without sewing, but with a gradient? Sounds like an April Fools' joke, but it isn't ;)

Across 17 pages, you'll find a detailed pattern for this beautiful Möbius, which really does do without the annoying Möbius cast-on. The product is also "seamless." That means you don't have to sew to achieve the typical Möbius shape either. You only have an approx. 5 cm seam at the transition from cable to Möbius.

What do you need to know?
Cast-on
knit and purl stitches
cabling
yarn overs
knitting stitches together
increases

At the end of the pattern, you'll find photo tutorials for individual sections that additionally explain new techniques. The photo tutorial is intentionally placed at the end of the pattern, so you can decide for yourself how much of the pattern you actually need to print to save ink.

I hope you have lots of fun with this new knitting experience!

You need these materials at home:
•200 m solid-color 4-ply gradient yarn
•750-900 m 4-ply gradient yarn
•Alternatively, sock yarn or yarn in sock-weight thickness
•3.5 mm circular knitting needle (80-100 cm)
•1 stitch marker
•Yarn needle
•Scissors

A rather classic, simple design is the Sophia

For the Sophia, you’ll need to master the Möbius cast-on. This basic technique is not explained separately in the pattern. Also, this model is more of a Möbius cowl or loop, unlike the Mimikry featured above, which can also be made as a shoulder warmer.

What skills do you need?
•Möbius cast-on
•Cast-on
•Knit and purl stitches
•Yarn overs
•Bind off •Pick

up stitches You’ll need these materials:
•500m of 4-ply multicolor gradient yarn (50% cotton, 50% nylon)
•500m of 4-ply solid-color gradient yarn (50% cotton, 50% nylon)
•Alternatively, sock yarn
•Circular needle size 3.5 (60–80 cm)
•Set of double-pointed needles size 3.5
•1 stitch marker
•Scissors
•Yarn needle

    Crochet Möbius Collar 1-2-3-4

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

This collar wonderfully perks up sweaters and shirts.

It is crocheted from approx. 60 g of a merino yarn with 50 g – 160 m yardage and hook size 3 – 4 (here with crochet hook 3.5) and is quickly finished in an afternoon. Beginners should allow themselves a little more crochet time.

Other yarns with a suitable hook size can also be used. In my opinion, however, the pattern shows to better advantage in finer yarns.

The Möbius technique in crochet is considerably easier than in knitting. For the illustrated PDF pattern, basic crochet skills are sufficient (chain stitches, single crochet, half double crochet, slip stitch). Link tips for learning to crochet are included.

    3 Techniques - Knitted Möbius Scarf-Collar-Headband

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

Here, the basic principle and three cast-on techniques for knitting Möbius scarves/loops are presented. Try them out and choose your favorite method :-)

The PDF pattern is illustrated in detail and contains 2 patterns

    • Model 1 – Colorful - is a Möbius loop/scarf with a circumference of approx. 90 cm and a height of approx. 20 cm, which can be worn wonderfully as a shoulder warmer and neck warmer in various ways. For this we only need 1 skein of Woolly Hugs Bandy, here color no. 7, 100 g – 210 m, 100% cotton, gauge according to the ball band: 14 sts x 20 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm; circular knitting needle size 6.0 with a cable length of 1 m; stitch marker; tape measure, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends. If needed, leftover yarn of a slightly thinner, color-coordinated yarn (e.g. Record 210 – potholder yarn, here in green) and crochet hook 4.5.

    • Model II – Möbius Collar in Milk White nestles wonderfully around the neck like a turtleneck, but can also be worn as a headband. This model makes a wonderful gift and is knitted in just a few hours. For this we only need 1 skein of merino yarn, 50 g – 85 m, e.g. Merino 85 by Austermann or Schachenmayr, 100% merino, according to the ball band for needle size 6 – 7 and a gauge of 16 sts x 22 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm. Used here: circular knitting needle 6.0, cable length 80 cm to 100 cm; stitch marker; tape measure, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends.

Both models are worked in a simple reversible rib pattern.
These knitting skills are required: casting on stitches, knit and purl stitches, knitting in the round, knit stitches together, purl stitches together, yarn over, bind off. A basic knitting course is not included, but link tips are.

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

This Excel spreadsheet is a tool for calculating your desired measurements for a knitted or crocheted Möbius scarf and the corresponding number of cast-on stitches according to your personal gauge.

For this, the Excel spreadsheet calculation program or another calculation program available for free download on the Internet, such as LibreOffice, is required. (Note: Sometimes a line "Protected View" appears at the top; in that case, please click "Enable Editing".)

    The download includes:

    • Excel spreadsheet with calculated formulas
    • PDF explanation of the Möbius principle
