Knitting Pattern for Wrist Warmers

Hello, fellow knitters: Can anyone help me? I saw some really great knitted wrist warmers with a staggered rib pattern, interspersed with what looked like stockinette rows (?), so that the pattern contracts vertically and forms a sort of pleat or wave. Thank you so much!

It might be brioche stitch, but of course that’s only a guess.

Arm warmers and wrist warmers are also one of my favorite topics, and they are quick to make and can usually be done on the side! 
The CLAÎRE arm warmers are inspired by the Outlander series and, with the Celtic cable pattern, are something for knitters with a bit more experience:
