Knitting Cable Patterns (No Advertising Thread)

please discuss crocheted cable patterns in that thread ; this one is for knitted cable patterns. Have fun discussing!

I really love knitting cable patterns. People often ask me if it’s terribly complicated. But I think it’s quite simple. You just have to keep crossing a few stitches. What I don’t like are cable needles. It’s like using a set of double-pointed needles—that’s just too many needles for me. ;-)

For small cables, I cross the stitches without a cable needle at all; I just slide the stitches off the needle, knit the others, and then knit the “slid-off” ones. This works great for cables up to 8 stitches. For more stitches, even I have to use a cable needle, whether I like it or not.

I also really like Celtic cable patterns.
