Decreases for baby sweater vest with cable pattern Infanti 10 /Mod. 57

Hello everyone,
I'm a bit at a loss, since I knit rather rarely. I’ve taken on a baby sweater vest that is really cute. Now I seem to be reaching my limits in understanding knitting patterns :(

I’ve gotten as far as the armhole, and now what?

copied-in pattern removed, mod.

Does an emphasized decrease mean: slip a stitch - knit - pass it over?

My head is spinning. Hope it isn't too much text.

Wishing you a relaxing second day of Christmas

Ines

The V-neck is explained first because, for the smallest size, you reach the neckline first. (For the larger sizes, you reach the armhole first).
Could it be that only the right side rows are shown in the knitting chart? Then you would need to cable the stitches on every 10th row.
Right front half probably means the right half as seen from the knitted piece. (But with a slipover, it probably doesn't matter anyway)
A highlighted decrease means: at the beginning of the row, pass 1 stitch over; at the end of the row, knit 2 stitches together.

Hi ruthk,
thanks for the quick reply. I seem to have interpreted the knitting chart correctly?!

Why does the shaping say: “In every 2nd row... and in every 4th row” (2x2 equals 4 for me ;))? Should I first work those decreases in every 2nd row (2x3 = 6 rows) and only then decrease in every 4th row? Somehow I’m making a real mess of this.
It would be great to get a tip or two more.

Have a nice evening

@ifahr
Welcome to our forum and platform.
Would you please be so kind as to tell me which pattern this is? Or is there a link to it?
I can’t leave copied sections of patterns as is, so it would be great if you could give me a link. Then I’ll delete the copied text above.

Oh, I didn’t know that.
I can tell I’m not getting any further anyway. Then just delete the post.

Thank you very much, and Happy New Year!

I would do the decrease from “every 2nd row” on the 2nd row, the one from “every 4th row” on the 4th row, then on the 6th row do it again like on the 2nd row, on the 8th row like on the 4th row, and so on. (Did I explain that clearly?) Keep your chin up, hang in there—you’ve got this!
