Tuesday is St. Nicholas Day! For anyone who hasn’t prepared a container for the St. Nicholas gifts yet, I have a weekend craft suggestion here:

This St. Nicholas boot is roomy, sturdy, and, thanks to the cord handles, even easy to carry. The boot is made of photo cardstock, measures approx. 18.5 x 21 x 9 cm, and is quick and easy to make with a little crafting experience.

Do you still have leftover yarn that you haven’t really known what to do with? How about quickly knitted wrist warmers? They are easy to knit, and the bobbles are crocheted on later – that’s quick and looks great – and a tutorial with lots of pictures for the bobbles is included too.
The pattern works for any yarn weight without a gauge swatch, so you can get started right away.

Here are the wrist warmers: Click!

The Swoosh hat is also a great gift that you can still knit up this weekend—in time for St. Nicholas Day. Just search through your leftover yarn box; 2 skeins are easily enough. This pattern is also written universally for all yarn weights, though you do need to make a gauge swatch beforehand so there are no nasty surprises.

Here’s where to find the Swoosh hat: Click!

Still haven’t found a gift for St. Nicholas Day?
Then hurry up and grab the new pattern for the Varya hat!

The hat is knitted flat in rows, so you don’t need a set of double-pointed needles—or even a circular needle.

You also don’t need to calculate the head circumference. Just keep knitting until the hat fits around your head. That’s why this pattern is suitable for all sizes. ☺

The width of the hat is—depending on the yarn—approx. 28–30 cm.

Materials needed:

  • approx. 70 grams of yarn for 6–7 mm needles or approx. 140 meters (e.g. MyBoshi Goat or similar yarn; please note the yardage)
  • 6–7 mm needles
  • 2 stitch markers
  • Measuring tape
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • some leftover yarn for the provisional cast-on
  • Crochet hook
The pattern includes:

  • 9 pages
  • Written pattern
  • Charts
  • Photo tutorial for the horizontal ribbing
  • Explanation of the provisional cast-on
Difficulty level: easy to medium
The pattern has been tested and checked for clarity and errors.

Get this great knitting pattern now. With the specified yarn, you’ll have the hat finished in just a few hours and can tuck it into a St. Nicholas stocking. ☺
